Rigel

Art thou
Thy soul
Of souls
Reaching
O to thee?

Or that
Celestial
Tide thus
Brimming
So, most
Delightful
Beams o'er
Me?

~

Sirius

O, Yes!
My Bride-to-be,
Spinning fiercely
Like a dervish in
This galaxy!

~

Rigel

My flames! My core!
Held together by my
Own attractiveness, I
Assure, I need not thee
Tis myself I do adore!
Fantastic mysteries
I keep thus pure!

Woo me to Love?
You seem assured
Of your Self as well!
But you must make
Haste to hence take
This, my body, O!
Heretofore to meld.

~

Sirius

My lust forsaken
Broken, taken!

See how hot
These fires
Thus burn,
All my Love
To you I turn!

~

Rigel

Be gone!
Be gone!
My Love
Must be earned.

~

Sirius

O what woe!
Woebegone
And melancholy!
Ease my malady,
Be my Lady!

~

Rigel

Perhaps one day
I shall, but as of
Now, I turn
Thee away.

~

Sirius

I shall do
My utmost
To burn
So close
Today
Tomorrow
So perhaps
Someday
It will be so.

~

Rigel silently

*Sigh, you
Persistent thing;
I wish to cradle
You, soon too.
This is a satire dialogue of love unrequited between two fiercely burning, vainglorious and  divine celestial stars Rigel and Sirius desperately falling in love, not admitting it.

"Thrilled Tokens of Desperate Love"
Spun on a thread, a gossamer thread
Hung on a dream in a watershed,
Shadows suspended in effortless time
Regretting those words left unsaid.
Regretting omissions, those hesitant thoughts,
Words bitten back by the tongue,
When clear expression could lighten the load
To sing every song left unsung.
So dimly, through deficits' dust laden air
In a shaft of brittle white sun
My confession remiss for omissions amiss
Paint bereft-ness before it’s begun.

This night a rich brocade of colour in the sky
Doth overwhelm all misery, so fetching to the eye,
Breathless in the scope of everlasting piling cloud
Embroidered in a golden cloaking, riotously aloud.
Abruptly surrendered to the racing pall of night
Where colour tones extinguish, now, to diamond points of light,
Where chill envelopes warmth with a shiver to the back
And the night consumes the majesty with a shrouding inky black.
Angrily I challenge the abruptness of the change
Where my spectacle of wonder died to darkly rearrange,
It's so typical of nature’s way to give and then to take….

****! …. Wake up fool…this attitude?..just give the world a break!

Hid beneath the Weeping Willows on dreadfully slow Summer afternoons  . Mockingbird lays beside a forgotten son , recites a tune of love lost in the midday rush .. Mimicked , took a bow , caught the wind and vanished , the guardian Angel I'd come to know left me unprotected and alone ..
I was a soldier of '69 , running through Vietnam with a stick , Hercules at the bend in the creek , afraid to speak for fear of the strap , praying for invisibility while crying myself to sleep , repressing tears at supper to prevent a beating ..
Precious , selfish mockingbird , we meet again tonight , how could you leave a friend to fend for himself like that ?

Too much of serious verse I've written
It's time I tried the comic
But it's just as hard
I don't know the trick.

A professor of poetry in Melbourne said to me:
' Enrol yourself in the School Of Comic Verse-
You were not born a writer
It can't do you any worse'
London Bridge is falling down
Falling down, my fair lady
Now let me tell you
My sad story.

The Aussie market is falling down
Falling down,  I am so unhappy
I'll sing this song no more
I'm caught up in Melbourne's Court of Bankruptcy.
