You said
The most brilliant thing
You said it was
Like a heart surgery
But he was only a
Surgeon in training
And had neglected to
Mention beforehand
That it was only
Exploratory cardiac surgery;
And it was just for his
Simmering curiosity
(He couldn't have carried
Out a simple angioplasty?)

That he cut the aorta
That's what you said
And his curiosity subsided;
And he left as you bled.
Someone I know used a brilliant metaphor the other day.

You sing to the moon
And hope for the reply
You're not going to get
You ask if he's happy
What do you expect
You sing to the moon
And I never know why
You ask if he's sad
You're going to hate his reply.

He said
But what will you do
And oh where will I go
And how will I learn
How not to blow
All my money on stuff
You were always so great at that
C'mon man stay
C'mon now stay
Stay

And how can I go
With someone who
Depends on me so.

You'll be fine baby
And who cares what he feels
He left you,stripped of dignity
He heightened those fears
You think we'll all leave
Please stop sending those texts
To him,honey please
He clearly doesn't care
You're so brilliant when you try -
For you people will always be there
Let him go from your life
And don't let him back in
And you can sing as you do
*"You don't know what it means to win."

I left you
For no good reason
(I mean, apart from the plane tickets)
I left in our in-between season
Not just physically;
I checked out before then.
I checked out emotionally;
And my god did you know!

You kicked and screamed
You've got a sailor's mouth
Ranging from "******* anyways." To "please,we'll work something out."
It was the best thing for you
I knew you'd meet someone real
Only I didn't know how badly others would treat you, didn't know the deal.
They held you and hurt you
They caressed and scraped
They kissed and bit;
And a hollow girl they made

But I'll stay for now,if only through
Poetry and codes;
And maybe someday again,
We'll intertwine our roads.

Her
And I read her
In part because it's easy
(Though she'll insist it's not,
And maybe she calls me ******)
In part because the pain
Draws me in
In part because she let
Her anxieties win

And he must have been a great guy
But maybe that's just it
He might have seemed perfect even
But perfect don't just call it quits
Devoted to a girl I know is feeling pain right now but will feel better soon!!
