Once upon a time
A father loved his daughter
A mother fed her child
A writer recited his poetry
A musician wrote a song
A doctor saved a life
A singer healed broken hearts

Now those were no more
Than tales of a distant yesterday
Amidst smoke and ash
Buried under the sea of the dead
I've been feeling very sad about wartorn lands and families ravaged by war.

Just leave me to live in this garbage
Because I've already been discarded
Like Oscar in his can
I'll be a grouch, a *****, for look at where I stand
Society has counted me unworthy
Has proclaimed I'm gritty, and I'm *****
So I'll climb to the top of this pile of trash
I'll scream out the truth, let them all thrash
For only those in the dark can see the true light
Only the broken know the true wrong from the right
In the midest of the fight is where we grow strong
So we can pull others like us along
For those not ruled by this worlds cash
Will ever be harmed by the stock markets crash
I know the worth of my fellow human
And when the world, by greed lies in ruin
We will climb out of the darkness where you've chased us
And in societies face, truth we will ******
For the darkness of man we know all to well
"For the meek will inherit the world" and love and light will prevail

Iphone, laptops, and the internet is to make us all smarter
But it makes us all dumber, and life alot harder
Microwaves, bread makers, electric can openers so we can save time
To help us make supper on less of a dime
We no longer talk to friends we text
Ment to bring us closer but it's more like a hex
Want to see a sunset just look on a screen
Don't go outside that would be obscene
We spend all our time at work to buy possessions
It's like an obsession
This material world perplexes me
It's all around me, you see
Ment to bring us closer, save us money, and time
But we are always working so much, it's more like a crime
No time for family, friend or mother nature
In this material world we've fallen into a crater
Wouldn't it be funny if the plug was pulled
And we would have to go back to using hand tools
I think we all would turn into drooling fools

gray rain
I couldn't help but look at you
In hope that you'd look back
I never thought we'd even cross our paths
but when we did I didn't expect
to end up with a knife in my back

The priest puts his trust
In martyrs and miracles
Clutching his rosary and his celibacy
To his bursting breast
And humanity walks
Through a series of cages
Every day

The ***** puts her trust
In bordellos and bodies
Clutching her money and her condoms
To her brassy breast
And humanity walks
Through a series of cages
Every day

The lawyer puts his trust
In regulations and rules
Clutching his charters and his decrees
To his dusty breast
And humanity walks
Through a series of cages
Every day

We each put our trust
In roles and rituals
Clutching convention and convenience
To our timid *******
So humanity continues to walk
Through a series of self-made cages
Every day

Offer a chair
To the poor
You will not
Lose thy place
In society

i'm scared to get close,
i hate being alone. I long
for that feeling, to not
feel at all. the higher
i get, the lower i'll sink.
I can't drown my demons,
they know how to swim.

I stopped dressing in black because you had bought the color back into my life. You said that I was the spark of hope in your life. Then you left. I waited. And waited for you to come back. But you didn't. So, I lost myself and kept my heart in the lost and found box. I turned towards the sun letting the shadows fall behind me. All the shadows. Including me.
I miss u baby plz come back.

The Lunchtime Poet
I sit here everyday
watching you walk by
You never even notice me
it makes me want to cry

See me on the corner
begging for some food
Walk the other way
not caring if it's rude

Other people stare
always looking, never seeing
Never even noticing
I'm a human being

Sleeping every night
on the cold park bench
What I wouldn't give
To get rid of this stench

I look at my hands
the dirt is starting to crust
Always being on guard
not knowing who to trust

For my situation
I'll accept the blame
But the way you treat people
You have all the shame
