The old oak tree grew at the edge,
of an orchard where little ones play,
and there lived a mage,
who hears trees on a windy day,

Rushing wind rustles leaves,
on that one day brilliant and bright,
With amber gold autumn grandeur on display,
singing tuneful songs delightfully light and gay,
Apple trees trilling events as mysterious as night,
Of love found and lost last May.
Seems unfair somehow
to love you as I do...

to miss you
with all my heart

to hold you
in my thoughts

all night and day
just dreaming of your kiss...

I know it's mutual
but is it right
to want you as I do

not just your body
and your mind

but your timeĀ

each precious second craved
each word digested

to be regurgitated later...

when I'm alone
with just my memories of you

is it okay to feel this way
to fear the very thought
of losing you

I wonder...

DO YOU

feel the same.
This poem is for the girls and guys in limbo
Somewhere between love and lust
Up the dark road
Inside the cold box
This ones for you.
For u sweet dreamer
For the girls lusting for the boys who have only followed the trail of perfection
This is for the nerdy guys
Afraid of the way she flips her hair
And his own shadow
This is for the friend zone
Those who tip toe cautiously
Reading mixed signs
And deciphering smoke signals
This is for you
This is for heartachers
And the people that will never know there own doing.
This is for the girls who say no
And for the boys who don't know there power
This is for I love you's
Whispered under breath
This is for the crushes
And the people that love them
This is for the traded glances
And the misinterpretation
This for the hours wasted
And tears that have fallen
Fallen long enough to build you an ocean
Like a mote
to place around your heart
This ones for you dark forecasters
And glass half fullers
This ones for the poets and the phone calls
This is for the obsessing
The morris code blessing
And this ones for the confession
Those that take there pride and tuck it between their legs
This is for you
Stand tall
Tall enough to crane your neck to see the horizon
Because this may look different on the other side.
This is for the hopefuls
Those who love and still believe
This is for the love lyrics written
And those that repeat there songs
This is for you.
each new shake of the square box,
another white stick.
the lighter to burn her death certificate
after her lips have already signed.
it's really cool
when you come full circle
in one sitting,
like,
sad to depressed to suicidal to scared to lonely to bored
to hopeful to silly to laughing to crying to laughing again
and have someone see
every single part of you,
and have them
stay
and it's like
****, i've finally found a soul
i can tell anything to
and they won't be scared away.

and it's like
oh,
THIS is what love is.
finally finally finally!

and it's like,
yes. miracles do happen.

y'know?
Sometimes the poem
doesn't want to come;
it hides from the poet
like a playful cat
who has run
under the house
& lurks among slugs,
roots, spiders' eyes,
ledge so long out of the sun
that it is dank
with the breath of the Troll King.

Sometimes the poem
darts away
like a coy lover
who is afraid of being possessed,
of feeling too much,
of losing his essential
loneliness-which he calls
freedom.

Sometimes the poem
can't requite
the poet's passion.

The poem is a dance
between poet & poem,
but sometimes the poem
just won't dance
and lurks on the sidelines
tapping its feet-
iambs, trochees-
out of step with the music
of your mariachi band.

If the poem won't come,
I say: sneak up on it.
Pretend you don't care.
Sit in your chair
reading Shakespeare, Neruda,
immortal Emily
and let yourself flow
into their music.

Go to the kitchen
and start peeling onions
for homemade sugo.

Before you know it,
the poem will be crying
as your ripe tomatoes
bubble away
with inspiration.

When the whole house is filled
with the tender tomato aroma,
start kneading the pasta.

As you rock
over the damp sensuous dough,
making it bend to your will,
as you make love to this manna
of flour and water,
the poem will get hungry
and come
just like a cat
coming home
when you least
expect her.
Though it's only been a short while I've never had a friend like you
But soon you will be leaving me
And I don't know what to do
Your love and understanding
Have brought me a new hope
I wish that I could keep you here
Tied to me with a rope
Why do you choose to leave me?
I ask with confusion and pain
Don't let me go back to feeling alone
When will I see you again?
The miles soon stretched between us
What will happen to this bond?
Will we reunite to find
That this special tie is gone?
So many questions I have
My heart filled with fear
Dreading you will leave me
And never shed a tear
Unlike this desperate aching
In my heart that won't let go
Which leads me now to tell you
Something you must know
The friendship you have given me
The joy you bring my soul
Has filled me with such strength
And love once unforetold
How can it be so short?
This time we've spent together
I thought you would remain here
And love me 'til forever
Sadly, wishful thinking
As I now have come to see
But remember please this thought
When you think of me
We may soon be separated
But I'll remember, just the same
Forever in my heart
Is where you will remain
I wish that when you leave
We'd remain the best of friends
You'll be in my thoughts
'Till I see you again
How can I say goodbye?
No words, but just tears fall
From my eyes and sobbing heart
That knows you after all
The hours spent together
Will soon dwindle down to few
Forcing me to let go
And start this year anew
Without you here to talk to
Searching for a friendly face
That knows all too well
They can never be replaced
You are not the waves that let me float
You are the boat that cradles me

You are not the path I follow
You are the shoes that comfort my dreary feet

You are not like a friend to me
You are my best companion

You are not there to fill in the nothing
You are there so I find joy in what I have

You are not the lamp that guides the way
You are the hand in mine that leads me

You are not my fish in the sea
You are the fisher that set me free

You are not the sun that warms the day
You are the moon that does all it can to brighten the night

You are not my heart
You are the life that flows through my veins

You are not the rain that cleanses me
You are the warm breeze that helps me to dry

You are not a piece of my life
You are the frame that holds it together

You are the love for me
a never ending
streaming river
flowing steadily
down under the
ridge of the
squares that sit
upon the bridge.

Nobody loves me, you say.
Nobody cares if I am okay.

You say, Nobody worries about me.
That Nobody would trade me for the world.

Only when I have left your nest,
Gone out on my own, do I realize

That to you, Nobody is only a simile for
Mother
