Traveler
Silence the night
The thunder of war
Explosions on camera
   Bodies and gore...
Displaced people
With nowhere to go
Violence and hate
   At its lowest of lows...
Silence the night
Steady and long
Why do we allow
   This night to go on...

I arranged these words
In a emotional array
To match the hue
Of the color grey
Seasons Greetings
Worlds apart
May the night be silenced
Within your hearts
...
Traveler Tim
Very unrestful season I'm afraid.
What other kind              of creature could divide
Each different thing             into its different sides
With chaos versus             order, dark and light
The stark duality of         wrong and right
We even split the very        world in two
With human versus human,       we and you
But still no matter how much      we divide
Each thing has infinitely many      sides
And if you are to love,
Love as the moon loves.
It doesn't steal the night,
It only unveils the beauty of the dark.

And if you are to love,
Love as the rain loves.
It doesn't wet the bodies,
It only washes the sad dirt of the souls.

And if you are to love,
Love as the wind loves.
It doesn't drift away,
It only cleanse you to the core by invading through each pore.

And if you are to love,
Love as the sun loves.
It doesn't radiates heat,
It only pours its warmth on you to enlighten your way.

And if you are to love,
Love as the star loves.
It doesn't delightfully twinkles,
It only reminds you that not even death can separate two hearts.

And so forth,
if you are to love
Love as the whole universe
& not just a part of it.
I see the eyes of the child
In your face
Shining brightly
Then recoiling suddenly, imploring
As you whisper
The horrors you have witnessed

Secrets you have kept
Shame you have felt
Guilt you have borne
When you were too young
To bear it

The fear you endured
The terror of your survival
The aching for a new dawn
The longing for safety

All are yours

Friend
You share
Your darkest secrets with me
Guiding me willingly
Through the dark, screaming tunnels
Of a traumatic youth

And I see your fear
I see your despair
Written with a tear
In your human eyes

Why am I telling you this?
You ask me
And I listen, with all my being
To the darkness of your sorrow

Friend
I know that you are ready
To be who you truly are
To set the child free
To become the one
You have the right to become

Yours is the future now
The tormentors are gone
Their histories will no longer
Strangle your hopes

When I sit with you
Silent
In the pitch black caverns of the past
I listen and I listen

And
Wonder

As you become
A candle
You become
A flame
You become
A beacon
You become
An inspiration
For millions and millions of lives
For whom terror
Is
The truth

In your search for your truth
You illuminate the truth for me
And I
Am left
Humbled
By your gift
Honoured by
Your life
Changed by
Your courage
Renewed by
You
To honour an unique and special friend

If I stand here can you still feel me?
The coarse threads, silky strands,
The moving flesh and heart,
Stilled by solid ice of bones.

Blinking is of no avail,
I think, I can still see everything, though the illumination is faint,
As if I’m watching the world change colours from light to dark, from dark to darker;
By now I can’t even read your expression, because I never knew the first thing about you,
And you never tried to understand me.

At times when the room was spinning and I tried to speak,
To make you comprehend the warmth, the stretch, the combustion inside me,
The only answer I received was a hot gush of breath leaving your parted lips,
And I lost the fight against the white blaze burning behind my eyelids.

Just now do I realize, as I reach for your hand in mid-air and lace my fingers with yours,
That the unwavering darkness of your gaze made my lights fade out.
But I don’t feel the loss, no wave of remorse washes over me,
Because your black is more radiant, than my white ever could have been.
You'll see one day,
when you're only nineteen
and life is a liquid
in which you swim
and drink deeply of,
that life will get you drunk
and you'll sleep so soundly
and dream your golden dreams
until one day you wake up
and you'll be thirty-three.

Hungover from living
a little too quickly,
you'll think to yourself:
*what happened to me?

Like a plane in the
fog
looking for a place to
land
Like a man in a
homeless shelter listening for the rapture
A pelican on a pier
eyeing his next meal
the last apple on a
tree all ready
to fall

Remember I started with blue
skies in front of me
I studied my flight plan well
I knew I'd be landing

I knew for sure
it wasn't going to be hell
I always tried to do so well,
focusing in on innocence
when ever I was able to

But there are failures of compass
The phantom captain takes
a nap

The instruments may keep on
saying you're right on track
But
the only trust I have is
in the Northern Star
and in Mars high
in the sky.

It seems impossible
to be so lost

Like a plane in the
fog
looking for somewhere
to land.

Like a woman working tables
until two a.m.
Her fitness app keeps saying
a hundred years this shift

The fuel is evaporating
The miles to go before zero
keeps hopping

Like a whale without a culture
no one to talk to
The sky is a 300 mile high
air ocean
I thought I was free
to get from here to there

Like a window with a view
of a brick wall

Phoenix in the summer
A tsunami on dry land
A river without a name
A cougar and no game

Like a lover whose left
and no way to find their name

So many aspects of this life
Departures and arrivals
a one way ticket

There is a great darkness
out in the distance
I know it's getting closer
but
I keep on drifting

Like a plane in the fog
looking for a place to land.

Does it make any sense,

how you are so far away.
Why are you here in front of me, when I can’t reach out to touch you.
you are so painfully real, I wish I just made you up.
Aren’t there plenty of things between us? So many, I couldn’t even count

the time. the minutes, the days, the ages.

All those adventures I haven’t accompanied you on.
All those problems you solved with someone else.
All those stories you haven’t shared with me.
All that warmth you are radiating with but I’ll never feel.

Why is there the deepest gap I can’t jump over.

I’m trying to build a bridge every night in my sleep.
The abyss doesn’t let me through, there is no other side I’m trying to reach.
Nothing I could grasp and hang onto, nothing I could ever imagine to see.
Just me, looking into the darkness standing on the edge of a broken dream,
feeling tremendous hope, scorched by the fire of excitement.

I’ll never understand what that look in your eyes means.
Those questioning blues, feeling them hit me right where it’s best.
Unknowingly, uncaringly you don’t see it,
how it hurts me, all that hope I have for us.

Because we two don’t exist together.
