By the time I was 23
Mom and Dad were
both dead.
I know it sounds
strange, but I felt
like an orphan;
like Oliver Twist.
Real love has
eluded me ever since.
like the goldfish in
the tank
at the Chinese restaurant,
when I reach in and
try to grab one.
Growing up, I thought
my parents would live
forever; of course that's
absurd, but even back then
I was a dreamer.

As tears fall apart
I'm writing this
Years has been difficult
Many unknown paths taken
Went through all kind of emotions

Here I am
Still searching for me
Searching for my being
Searching for the purpose of being
A poem written in 2015

I know you would recognize me the way I do

Traveler
Resilient
The poets heart
Words we use
Turning pain to art

Chronic stress
A syndrome no less
Our muses behold
The Mother's breast

Fight or flight
Sympathetic states
We resolve upon
Our creative slates

Breaking through
Rising above
Poetry becomes our strongest drug

When the fever flares
Word are but aspirin
And the poem becomes our cure
An observation I made while
living here,

on HP!

heard the song of Whales
cries of children
those boasting of conquest
songs of birds
the calls of war
innocent bystanders
listened to hatred
blocked out all malice
that so to enter beauty
and having arrived
I bid you welcome.

Hey God;
Let the mind that has broken free from the shackles of social and racial biases to free the society that is afflicted by these ills.
