Poem [2]
askingashe Aug 2020
Love is not something that can be taught
But is something that is found
It isn’t deceitful like the moonlight
But is as indescribable as the sunrise

In its complexity you find peace
In its anger you find compassion
It teaches with great discipline
It magnificence unlimited

Love is always there to help
Even when you can’t help yourself
For love isn’t who you become
But is your belief in the Holy One

Only one who truly desires
And is humble at heart and soul
Only they will be blessed with the unseen beauty
Of the magnificent King of kings

For love is not something that can be taught
But is something that is found
It is not deceitful like the moonlight
But as indescribable as the sunrise

Poem [1]
askingashe Aug 2020
Scars last a lifetime
Bruises for a season
A moment can last forever
Without giving reason

What will happen in the end
Will the land be covered by fire
And as all life tries to escape
What will be there last desire

Will they ask for forgiveness
Or go out in rage
Or be caught in denial
With their hearts still the same

Will it be a glorified destruction
Or a catastrophic end
To those that will live forever in paradise
Or those that regret their most prideful sins

But when the Earth is quiet
And all is said and done
What will become of that moment
When they meet the Holy One
The oldest poem that I have on paper. The first of many

Sonnet II
askingashe Aug 2020
Imagine life deprived of pain and lost.
Never regretting days we spend adrift.
Or love without remorse, a price, or cost.
Forever living in eternal bliss.

But life is hard and love is rare to find.
The sun it burns relentlessly above.
The night reveals uncertainty inside.
Imagine life deprived of pain and love.

As stubborn hearts grow restless, winter sets.
But they never remain the same throughout.
A journey long and painful nonetheless.
Unspoken truths never revealed aloud.

A love untouched by doubt, a heart of stone.
Imagine life unfazed by love alone.

Sonnet I
askingashe Aug 2020
Survey the way display can be perceived.
You might just find perfection dwelling there.
Few notice nowadays the worlds deceived
And live belied and simply unaware.

Can I locate something you fail to seek?
Direct a light in darkness overnight?
Can I describe love that remains unseen?
Bedeck a perfect moment right in time?

The feeling perhaps left because of fate.
Was called upon for reasons still unknown.
The feeling quickly left without a trace.
Despite the urgent calls of broken homes.

The perfect presence is so full of peace.
A lot more than a “just a feeling” thing.
My first attempt at a sonnet many years ago. It’s what helped me realize my passion for writing and awoke a deep love within my heart and soul.
