what do parking lots
and my heart
have in common?

they both feel so much bigger
at five a.m.
opening up.

Someday

I would read this poem

written on 3:22

and realise

that I like you no more
I told myself I liked peace
but the chaos is exhilarating.
I run from problems to let the animosity build.
I keep quiet to infuriate.
I plant myself in equations where my presence isn’t wanted.
Anger fuels the quiet
Words drench the flames
A sparrow flying free
blossoms before it's shot.
It falls like a flower from a tree.
Then the petals were feathers
warm with blood.

Then maybe that is happinessβ€”
always a sadness
away.

I reach out, wrap my arms around you
You accept it, not much of a show
I wish that you will embrace me, too
That you want me, I need to know

A wish ignored, rejected...

fault the summer air
that beckons the wafting spirit

fault the lightning bug
that flashes purity in the night

fault the music
that brings emotion to its knees

fault no fault but my own
Your waspish smile
     Stings me
Like a hypocritical barb from a jaded glance
A subtle trip, within a slow dance

Alas…

Your Poison ain’t what it used to be!
