IT’S JUST THE THING

Birds  must sing
lovers must  love
poets  must write
the sky must hang above
(It’s just the thing)

If love is just the thing
wouldn’t it be easy
for you to say
you love me?

MAN’S INHUMANITY

There’s so much anger around
tolerance is a long-forgotten word, sadly-
and I begin to wonder in the silence of my heart
whether there’s any hope in humanity

anger, rage, frenzy, then hate
the will of  such people must be obeyed
society stands on shaky ground
compassion and charity is dead

to what are we humans born
but that we should kindness show?
goodness no longer rings in ears
the world is ruled by endless callousness and ego

what took wisdom many a century to build
hate can demolish in a moment of frenzy
everywhere we hear the cry of pain
and sense the demise of humanity.

"I love you."
But you're not the one I wanted to love me.

You really have to watch those liberal males,
they'll spend hours and hours with you having
deep intellectual conversations.

They'll discuss deep ideas, contemplate esoteric
theory and spiritual ideas. They'll make love
for hours and write deep and meaningful poetry
about you. Sure, they will probably wear their hair
long and most likely won't own a television.

But, they'll understand art and architecture and
literature. It's true that they probably won't give two
shakes about who won what football game, but they'll
dance with you late at night under the stars and they're
always looking for new ways to please you and usually
understand your deepest thoughts, often before you
understand them yourself.

They'll be your best friend and always treat you as
an equal, in fact, it will never even enter their mind
that you're not. They're almost always physically fit, too,
because they're usually the outdoorsy type and love to hike.
They never make fun of others, or discuss small ideas.
They enjoy discussing ways to improve the world and
the lives of others.

Sure, they won't slap you on your *** and tell you to get in
the kitchen and cook them some dinner and bring them a beer
while you're at it like those macho men on the right. Instead
they'll probably tell you to relax while they whip you up a
gourmet meal and serve it to you on the best dishes.

Yeah, you really gotta watch out for those liberal males.
I wrote this in response to a derogatory comment about liberal men.
When I was just three
I was given a tin drum
I played it all day
and into the evening
next day I could not find it
i love your dark head
leaning close and listening
i love your bright eyes
leering at me when alone
i love your mouth, ears and nose
in closest proximity
i love your sweet lips and tongue
kissing, tasting and again
i love your long silken hair
it's subtle touch igniting
i love the curve of your neck
inviting me to nibble
i love your shoulders shrugging
in shy anticipation
i love your limbs and body
holding me close and pressing
i love your hands and your feet
tickling and caressing
i love your satin soft skin
freckles and beauty markings
i love your voice and laughter
warming and encouraging
i love your sweet *******
and caressing their fullness
i love your rose *******
rising to my attention
i love your foxy venus
its' downy plait and its' swell
I love your pearl button
hooded, hard and slippery
i love your soft and pink lips
dampening when i am close
i love your ******'s blaze
that both anneals and melds we
but what I love the most is
there behind your eyes

Lost in the city lights
Are small palms
Are little feet
Are muddy faces
Of children of a thousand unknown names
Those palms holding a bunch of 5 rupee roses.
And feet scurrying about amongst the traffic signals
Selling their future to wipe your car's windows
And muddy faces serve you
While their childhood
Brews in your cup of chai.
