To all the times I held you
To all the times I cried
To all the times you hurt me
To all the times you lied
To all the times you screamed my name
and the times I screamed yours back
To every bruise you gave me
and for every bone you cracked.

To every name you called me
as your blows rained from above
To the corner that I cowered in
as you dealt out your "love"
To your friends that saw the battle scars and quickly turned away
To the drink that made you do it
even on your sober days.

I raise this glass to you my love
in thanks for all you've done
it took a while but now I see
that you're the damaged one
So when you're feeling lonely
Don't spare a thought for me
I cower there no longer
Your anger set me free.

Every morning I head to the airport
Where the daily poems depart and arrive
I'm always hoping to catch a rhyme
Coming in on an early flight

When at Gate #9

I saw what appeared to be a famous poem
One that looked awfully familiar
I think that we might have worked together in the past
Early on in our careers

But so many have flown in and so many flown out
It's so hard to keep most of them straight
So we nod as we pass each other by
On our way to another of life's gate

Right then comes a gaggle of poetry
Newly fresh poems down on the tarmac
This is moment I'd come here for
And need to think fast on which ones to grab

...and I did grab me a handful,
took them straight back to my place
This should give me enough of something to do
At least for a couple of days...

(Text:)
In all the world, there'll never be
A man I love as much as Thee!
(Ans:)
Even on the clouds or the deep blue sea?
That's a lot o' love for me!

(and then:)
I sent my dreams to look above,
And see if any other love
Was away up there and could be found
But woke up lying on the ground!
So I pushed my heart into the sea -
I have been told, so many times,
How cold my heart is- frigid me!
Alas! there's no one quite like thee!
So, Zeus, with all his charms and flair
Can keep his castles in the air!
And Neptune, though his cold match mine,
Must swim alone and drink his wine.
For all the changing shafts of light
That pierce the depths of deepest seas
And all the twinkling hosts of night
Can never match the depths I've seen
In those most twinkling human eyes.
that constantly can change their hue,
And taught me about the color Blue.

In all the world
There'll never be
A man I love
   As much as Thee.

Written on these walls
that constantly surround me
are words of pain and hurt
that never seem to leave

Tiny steps taken forward
that sometimes feel like leaps
yet I'm so quickly halted,
quietened, I stare at my feet

A mind that feels battered
like an exhausted, pathetic space
A heart distorted and wounded
and each time it's etched on my face

I feel so sure at times
that the past will no longer invade
thinking each time I'll be prepared
for another battle that's there to face

Still it feels like a cruel blow
that dulls and slows my senses
catching me off guard
before I can raise all defences

Each time I am learning
how to heal my wounds that bleed
I have a choice, I realise
and return more swiftly to my feet

I cannot let them hinder me
refuse to waste tears or time
through this life I'll just keep on walking
drawing on my strength that's deep inside

I wrote this a while ago and it has made me realise how much better I am coping at dealing with the things life throws at me.

betterdays
there is,
in my opinion,
nothing like,
the determination,
of  four and half kilos
of grey feline.
that wants...
to be fed at 5:37am.

the pushing
and bumfping,
the disproportinate roar,
of the basso profundo purr, in your right ear.

if still not convinced,
or just,
downright lazy
a whack with a southpaw
to the back of the head.
your attention will restore.
no you're still resisting
the charm.

then be aware,
of the flying leap & twist; landing on the midriff.

but, from years of dilligent training,
i have deduced,
the cold, wet nose, trailing across my exposed flesh,
is to best be avoided.

simply, by stumbling up,
from your rest....
and succumbing
to the mantra,
the cat knows best.....
fill the bowl,
be done with,
the furry pest.....

and hope you
can snooze for a while,
before.... you have to get up
and feed the rest....

betterdays
stand me up
dust me off
wind my key
and set me off

i am your
clockwork
heart

and i will beat
for you
when your not strong

pay an extra ten dollars

and i will play this song....
