On a throne of pillows
I languish
Eyes closed
Mind composed
Lost in a memory
Body aching
Pulse racing
As my hands .......
My hands
Travel slowly
Down my body
Seeking pleasure
Finding my centre
Releasing the agony
Of my ecstasy
Spilling through my fingers
As I spiral
Towards a supernova

There are times in my life
When all I want to do
Is to disappear
No plans
No questions
And no recriminations
Just disappearance
To nowhere

from this
vantage point
the world is
smaller than
we previously
thought, birds fly
alongside us,
cars that roared
before are
silenced,
we swim
in a sea of blue,
a view that
sharpens what
we already knew;
that this world is
beautiful,
a feeling that if
bottled
would be taken
in the traffic
jams & hospitals
& we would
see the Earth as a
speck of dust
floating
through a
Galaxy
much bigger
than us

You **** in air to keep your lungs inflating
tied to ancient choices when you gave up gills
and you cannot remember that far history
but you know the ocean can be beautiful
and you know she longs to take you back.

Having drunk deep
of sweet mortality,
the senses struggle
to refine their taste.

Maybe
our ‘forever’ does not match

Maybe
your forever happened before my forever
or will happen after my forever

Maybe
your forever
is shorter
than my forever

Or maybe
there
is no
such thing
as forever.
