Reality
Kelly Jun 2018
The sky is blue
The grass is green
Please, state the facts

There are no metaphors
There are no similes
Please, don't go off track

We love evidence
We love research
We love science

Yet, we cast it away
When we get on our knees
For a moment of silence

We adore reality
The fantasy world scares us
But it's a place where we dwell

When we are challenged
When we are afraid
When we can hear the eerie sounds of church bells

We fear reality
We love reality

The drapes were closing
The sun was setting

As the moon came into view
The place that offered them freedom is now filled with rue

The drapes are closing, it's the end of a scene
The drapes are closing,
It's not the end of the play

Innocence
Kelly May 2018
Your lipstick stains like cheap wine
Words laced with faux affection
Empty bottles depict our vows
“’til tonight do us part”

the golden heavens will mark our allotted end
pictures of broken memories fill my gallery
like a rusted rose in a funeral parlour
Your face has been engraved in my memory

Your bedsheet that’s filled with regret
Has become an archetype of infidelity
A night filled with cheap champagne
A day filled with rue

When I opened your door
I knew you would never remember me
So, as a souvenir I gave you
My innocence
A speed poem

Watch the leaves pare together
As summer leaves and fall enters
Like a pariah dog living in a village
Tearing apart old garden gnomes

The little nestle of a den mother
Slowly becomes a den of iniquity
The trees are all bare
All of their secrets spilled

The gallery of rusted flowers
Are slowly turning into stone
the sun and moon are fighting for the spotlight
the days they are split in half, but the moon is slowly taking the crown
