Miracles do happen everyday...
Every moment, every breath you take,
Is truly a miracle

In the same hospital,
The exact moment you hear the heart rate monitor giving its final beeps on the first floor,
You hear the shrieking of a new born on the fourth floor,

The sadness and grief on one family’s face,
Hope and delight on the other’s,
Prove that life and death are truly intertwined,

They are a cycle,
They complete each other
It’s really a miracle.

A miracle visible to the naked eye,
A miracle that makes life worthwhile.

Etched behind my eyes is your smile.
Sealed in my memories is your hug.
Merged with breath are my thoughts,
dear soulmate Curtis that you
will rendezvous with my heart
in dreams so we dance again in life,
when I leave this journey on earth.
A voyage where in heart  I move
feeling your love and
send you gratitude.

Indigenous verve
Cradled an African earth child
Koi San blossomed there
The global narrative is that the
Koi San
Is the first nation of South Africa and should indeed be
Classified as the indigenous people
Of the Western Cape
The South African government
Still does not recognise these truths
I am a coloured by culture but DNA Koi San
Vision is to
  Art

As grace is to
  the soul

Not one
  without the other

Blanket
  against the cold

Sing me that song you sang first time we locked eyes
The song that gave me butterflies
The song that made me believe true love existed not only in movies but also in real life

Sing me that song for it made me fall in love with you more
Through it I learned to dance
Through I got my first kiss
Through I got so wild

Sing me that song for when you are far away
I hear your voice calling out for me
I hear your whispers and
I feel your lips coming for mine

Sing me that song for I can't get over the fact that it's  still my ringtone

Disgusted, and saddened
Vicki’s poetry (and kindness) is an absolute inspiration
She was one of the first (along with Mary, Pradip and WK) to take the time to read and comment on my mediocre work...a jolt every aspiring poet needs
If you are listening Vicki...God bless you
I looked up from my sketch pad
and for a brief moment
saw how beautifully perfect
life can be

and isn’t that all we have

just moments

and in that moment
I found that every now and then
life can be something
even more beautiful than love
