Many years
ago, I went to
this little
Irish bar.
On Sunday nights,
there was a jazz band.
They played
Monk
Mingus
Coltrane
Miles
and the Duke.

I drank gallons of
****** marys on
those hot
summer nights.
Dill pickle spears, and
green olives came up
later on those
hungover, dreamless
mornings.

I was young.
I wasted the days,
lying in the sun,
bayonetted by youth.
Copper colored skin,
tin soul.
I would go thousands
of miles, chasing
that train, before I
would be forgiven.

Stranger, when we meet
I'll let you speak
I'll be mute-

tell me your story
I'll listen attentively:

have you come from the sea?
or the mountain beyond the lea?

Though we've never met
in trust let our hearts set

for we're one in common humanity
capable of love, understanding and sympathy-

when you've had your full say
gently you may walk away
I'll remember you and regard this a memorable day.
Tending anger’s
raging garden
seeds lie
burnt and dire

Each fiery breath
a vine ensnares
with thorns
of ****** ire

Tending anger’s
furrowed hate
with vehement
acclaim

A tirade lost
within the rows
of dark
— unending pain

Contemplation
A whole new nation
Inner-flexion
Introspection
Ponder think
Every blank

Most people are
reluctant
to change
Quite contrary
While others
Live arbitrary

Set in their way
Sedentary all day

I am labile
The one constant
thing in life
Is change
Ready or not
Life rearranged

Change can be
A beautiful thing
Caterpillar on the
Ground
chrysalis
All around
Butterfly
In the sky

Change is
beyond
Our control
All we
can do
Is go
With the
Flow
