the thought of us
seeing you from afar as I walk into school
Just you

There once was a town in the world.
In this little town, lived a girl.
She barely could write,
But sat up all night.
Carefully carving each word.

The poem she wrote was a dream.
A thought that had grown, it'd seem.
The frailest of strands;
Words woven by hands.
Like droplets of diamond
Downstream.

The morning sun shone on the stairs.
He sat there, his face holding tears.
Her father, and all
That little girl called
Her family, burdened with fears.

She sat down beside the poor man.
Put paper inside his strong hand.
She left him to read,
As if sowing a seed.
And so, the whole healing began.

Her words had a life of their own.
Of wisdom beyond any known.
They spoke of a place
That was floating in space,
Yet it's beings were far from alone.

Why cry when there's laughter?
Why fight when there's dance?
Why hate when there's family,
Fun and romance?

Her words were so simple, so clean.
Yet painted in colours unseen
Through verses and lines,
And symbols and signs...
To adults, elders, infants and teens.

It took not religion, it seems.
No army, no guns or machines.
To shape this old world
To the words of a girl
With paper, a pen... and a dream.

I don't want to talk about school or how your last test went or any small talk for that matter

I want you to tell me about that new book you've gotten lost in or the way your father's voice shakes as he erupts in anger and blame for the third time that day

Tell me about the scar that's just above your left eyebrow and why a candle is your favorite metaphor

Show me the hidden parts of yourself and for you I might do the same
Funny what you can find when you look through old writing
Coffee is Coffee
and Tea is Tea
Burn your lips and think of me

Goodbye I Need To Say

My heart breaks a little more
As we slowly fade away
Knowing that with each new day
Goodbye I need to say

I need to find the courage
To look you in the eyes
Do the one thing I must do
And not live a life of lies

I need to reach deep inside
Say the words I know are true
That I no longer feel the love
That I once felt for you

I hope one day you'll understand
Learn to live and love again
For you deserve more in life
Then what I now can give

My heart breaks a little more
As we slowly fade away
Knowing that with each new day
Goodbye I need to say
