you can tell a lot about someone from their shoes

the well kept,
shiny,
new looking dress shoes.

the unkempt,
raggedy,
hand-me-down tennis shoes.

the classy,
black,
high-heeled stilettos.

the scuffed,
well loved,
well worn work boots.

you pictured a person in each pair didn't you?
isn't it amazing
that given only shoes
we can create a character.

There's a chef in my mind
That does all the cooking
Mixing words into rhyme
Brings home the bacon

Changes up recipes
Stirring freely
In and out of the pan
With poetic ease

If it's not to his taste
He spices it up
Broiled, fried, or baked
Poems served up for lunch

It's like he's on a mission
Always in my kitchen
Trying new recipes out
On whoever will listen

The chef in my mind
That does all the cooking
Mixing words into rhyme
Brings home the bacon

Just like
A beautiful house
Cannot built  itself
    It requires a
Passionate builder

  Life cannot
   Create itself
             It
Requires a creator
           God
 
You need to be happy
       That you’re
             Exist
     For you are
       A gift
From your creator
           God

Therefore it is
  Crucial that
     You’re very
Thankful you exist
         For
There will never
    Be another
             You
In this universe

      Allow your
Spirit to fly in greater
           Strides
              For
    Life is very precious
         
I’ve learned to live
With all my might
           For
       I am a gift
       From God

I no longer believe
       In death ,
The great unknown

Infinite is the life
     For me
As legends
     Never
Truly dies

Dare to never
Backs down
From the call
To a life of purpose
            And
      Victory.

This is the place
I find my rest every time
I rest my case
As loves shadow steps into the light

I gladly pay the fee
As your love fills my every need
This being the guarantee
At home in your hands

I take from my mistakes
Of the past I've made
Before I find it too late

You are the first thing I ask
When I ask of anything
That is to be seen

A Lemming at the edge of the cliff
No one's leading the charge, you just think that they are
...crowd control at its best

As you continue to do what they tell you to
More common but very little sense
Where I used to laugh now I find it sad
As no one seems to check the facts

You can boo hoo and cry, chase butterflies
In this fantasy world you live
Cover your ears along with your eyes
Could you cover your mouth instead

But alas you're in the loop of monkey see monkey do
Here's a little secret that can't be kept
What you thought you once knew no longer rings true
That has a lot to do with the lack of common sense

We're on a slippery *****
As we raise high all the hoops
Someone grab ahold of the rope
But not the one with the ragged end noose

If we keep on in this spiral
Of downward trajectory
There will soon be nothing left
When it comes to you and me

Galloping along on our high horse
Aren't we all the same to blame
As a matter of sense in this matter of course
Don't we all blame the same

We set our standards high
Expecting the others to jump
Knowing that if we ourselves even tried
We wouldn't have too much luck

With our do as I say
But don't do as I do
Leading the way
In our new attitude

Or we too afraid
To sing life in harmony
As our voices raise
To this daily song way off key

I keep wondering when
We'll say enough is enough
And see that hate doesn't stop hate
Hate only sucombs to love

Always quick with the question
As you search for answers to life
With every step being a lesson
Around every corner something to find

It's not always as easy as it seems
And it doesn't work out every time
But you'll never know if you don't go
And at least give it a try

Life is always open for business
Everywhere you look there's a sign
Right here with God as my witness
You can go all the way up to closing time

It's really up to you in how you do
Shorts, Sweats, or Suit and a Tie
Whatever comfort works for you
At least give it a try

You've got to reel this life in from beginning to end
Opportunity is always tugging the line
So grab hold of the net as you're not done yet
All it takes is the will and the might

You never will be fulfilled
When the time comes to say bye, bye
If you don't jump at the chance at every chance that you can
And at least give it a try
