Sacrifice
Sacrifice
doesn't mean
simply
losing your life
for the sake of a cause,
it means
willingly taking on
an unfair share
of burden
that it may be better
for the group, at large.

Don't be a coward;
step up to the plate:
even if you fail,
at least you tried.

I fear
that's better
than many will ever do.

Prophetic Authors
They tell us, in school,
to read all these books
by great minds;
H.G. Wells, Arthur C. Clarke, George Orwell, Ray Bradbury, Aldous Huxley;
but, at the same time,
they tell us,
even if subconsciously,
to ignore the grim implications
coming evermore true with each passing moment
of these Prophetic authors.

Medium [Fate]
Upon further review,
my subconscious has decided
that it is not so simple
as to be up to One
to chose One's [artistic] medium:

Music and Language are not my mediums,
I am a Medium for Music and Language.

It is not so much that One works within the medium of One's choice,
as it is that the medium made One the Medium of it's choice.

Skill, practice, patience and self-discipline;
steer One towards a certain medium,
help One be more receptive to a certain medium,
and make One a more fitting Harbinger of the medium,
so in time:

As One immerses oneself in a medium,
the medium envelops One in return.
One becomes one with the medium,
One is now a Medium.
Sort of a play on words, but also seems true.

Medium here could mean 'psychic' or 'a kind of artistic technique or means of expression', depending on the context.
The Gods are Energies. We are adrift in a vast ocean of omnidimentional Energies.

Bureau, as in "business" as well as "inefficiency";

cures, as in "what you would expect from a medical institution which claims to have the answers for us."

Training Wheels
Religion is, by far too many,
all too often treated to be
philosophical training wheels
nailed, *******, drilled, shot and beaten
into the already rickety bicycle
of One's own Life;

sure,
the training wheels
may help to keep One from falling,
that One can gayly forgo
the humility and responsibility
implicit with the burden
of One's own cognition;

yet, One cannot steer by leaning
if One relies on training wheels,
and, if One never takes them off,
One will ne'er have the true freedom
of being fully able to ride the bicycle
of One's own Life.
This is not an attack launched by me,
it is a plea to stop defiling divinity
it is a plea for mutual esteem
it is a plea for individuality
it is a plea for spirituality
it is just a plea for sanity.
They flip out if One "owes" them a Thousand Dollars
but they don't do **** about
our $11,959,000,000,000 deficit
(or about 75% of the GDP)
except raise the debt ceiling
and shut down day-to-day processes
thus letting functionality grind to a halt
so they can still afford to pay themselves
their precious and exorbitant salaries,
whilst every-*******-thing else
deteriorates by the minute
and is foreclosed upon.

I think that we as a Nation should instate
that Politicians are unable to pay themselves

with which to reward them

Cogitatio Sapientvs Intrvm
My bastardized Latin name approximating "[One who] reflects inner wisdom."
I love playing with etymology.

Cogitationis roughly translates to "thinking/meditation/reflection"
Sapien sort-of means "wise/wisdom/sentient" (like **** Sapiens)
Intrum is something like "inner/inside/within"

and the letter u was once writ as the letter v in the Latin world, so I replaced the us with vs and trifled with likely absolutely incorrect suffixes to make it more fun to say.

Hence: **Cogitatio Sapientvs Intrvm

Edification
is a personal choice.
It is well within One's realm of power
to rise above what One has been
to learn from One's own mistakes
and to augment and amend the standards of quality
to which One chooses to hold One's Self.

Edification is not simply a lofty pipe dream
achieved only by perhaps a few past geniuses;
it is the perpetual act of active mental cultivation,
taming One's Mind that One may lead it
that in turn it may propel One upon the Path
rather than One merely being dragged along
for the ride of a lifetime.

Edification is a personal choice.
Begrudge not they who seem to choose to overlook it,
though they may well begrudge you your vernacular;
for it is they who cheat themselves
with some grandiose mass-produced delusion of comfort
and they thereby **** themselves
to forever wallow in their own putrid and vile irk and ire.
And, in the self-absorbed yet self-nihilistic process,
do they cheat us all of an edified society!

Even so, perhaps even more so, with that withstanding,
it is of utmost importance not to begrudge them their disedified state,
for pray they wallow not in malice, but in ignorance;
for all it takes is perseverance and knowing One's Self.

Aye, there's the rub.
Edification: n.
Intellectual, moral, or spiritual improvement; enlightenment.
An endless, subjective, and, I argue, self-directed process of self-cultivation.
Edification is salvation.

"Law dictates action for the lesser men;
right conduct dictates action for the Sage."

Theatrics
Different People regard Theatrics in different ways.
Theatrics, to me, are a celebration of mere existence, in ways.

Some people never seem to gain an appreciation for Theatrics.
Most save their Theatrics for special occasions, or vicariously bask in those of others.
Few embody their own Theatrics; identify with them, live through them.

The way I see it,
each day can be a reason to celebrate
with nicer than normal attire
for seemingly no good reason
or wearing some theatrical eyeliner
or to move with a bit of a dance from A to B
or to incorporate whatever combination of aspects
of theatrical expression.

You see, Theatrics, to me,
are a means for expression,
and, as an Artist,
nothing else can matter more
on a personal level
than expressing what it is
I have in my Mind.

Theatrics
needn't be restrained
merely to the Stage,
for the World is a Stage
and we're all playing our parts
so we may as well have a little fun
and celebrate each moment
with our own styles
of Theatrics.

But,
that said,
everything in moderation.

Vehicle [Path]
The senses are the windows
of the vehicle that is the body.

It is far too easy to assume the view is the point,
such is not the case;
the senses of perception are means to an end,
they are some of the tools one possesses
to aid one on the journey
whereupon the body is the vehicle
and life itself is the path
to enlightenment.
Some stray from their path, others may never find it.
A lucky few were born onto it,
but very few can travel their path without great conscious effort on their part at certain points.

Also, this originated on a napkin during a rush at work last night. One must accommodate inspiration!

Feelin' sassy.

Life is too **** short and sad to be a boring person.
When i was a younger lad,
i just couldn't wrap my head around
why t'is that females

particularly
a certain complementary ***
i just so happen to be.

It just struck me as a bit

But,

though, t'would seem,

i realize
t'is indeed quite unfair,
and that's precisely why

Meant to be a joke.
Sorry if I offended anyone.
Call it catharsis.

As a male, i must postulate as food for thought that perhaps Bukowski was a tortured, stubborn, and sensitive Soul who is all too often misunderstood and is used as an excuse for sexist prejudice by people who have never suffered from Y-Chromosome Poisoning.
Not saying he was innocent,
but let's be honest; no one truly is.
Familiar taste;
sort of like popcorn,
but without butter
and somehow...
trippier.

So much more precious than mere popcorn;

Break down my barriers of sense and intuition;
make raw my calloused mind of predisposition.

Take me back to primordial mind
before anything knew chains;
unconfined.

Please, oh please let me be a prism for the Divine
even if for a short window of time
tear down the barriers constructed by and for Mind
and once more remind me of what I have yet to lose.

Shadows sway and morph and overflow
as Shadow morphs and sits for tea;
please, oh please let me learn from this
slightly less than blissful experience
for I know that I've yet so much to learn.

I feel like all that is worth writing is lost on most who can read;
it is futile to write certain feelings and insights for I know that they just as easily arise elsewhere.
The truest of truths will be thought of by another prism.

Even so, it is best to drudge through this sense of folly
and try to reflect upon the truisms that feed away at my waking mind
in hopes that they will find a host amongst deserving minds.
So I say, with head full of thought, good night (at 4:30am).

Life
Sometimes
I feel that Life is a gift that I don't deserve.
While there is abundant beauty and infinite wonder,
there is so much pain, suffering and despair.
While I wish the pain would subside,
I know such a desire is fruitless
as existence requires suffering, or it at least certainly seems that way.
Every action and non-action propagate ripples which may never calm.

Life is a paradox:
Why? Why not? How? How could it not?
Illusory, yet real. Constant, yet with cessation.
Joy, pain, excitement, dread, disappointment, elation, fear, birth, death, now, never

So much that seems wrong to one person
all done just because our circumstance binds us
to things we'd rather do without.

So frightening is the notion of death, yet so painful is the concept of life.
Sometimes death seems more comfortable and desirable than life.

Lost in thought, found in confusion;
I think my life would be a gift better utilized by someone else.
I feel like a failure. A plague. A source of disdain and pain. Confusion.
Mostly to myself, but I've seen the effects of it on others, as well.
Sometimes I hate life too much to live
but some flame yet burns within me
demanding that I feed it oxygen and inspiration
that causes me to yearn for yet another breath.

Besides, what if I were to die tomorrow?
I might as well live now, today,
while I still have the chance.
This probably sounds worse than it is.
It is only an expression of a transient and powerful feeling I'm sure we all get from time to time.

An old piece of mine from last summer. Revisited.

Impatience
I'm sick and tired of catching flak for other people's actions.
Just because I'm timid doesn't mean I have more power over other people,
it only signifies a level of discipline attained within myself.

I am tired of being lectured on behalf of others and their indiscretions;
they are not my mistakes to reconcile.
I am tired of being a middleman for the melodrama
of my fellow spoiled Americans.

I've tried to mitigate, but it only agitates both sides
so I say "**** it. They're your issues now."
I hope you made good use of my efforts,
because now they shall no longer be imparted in this regard.

My patience has been abused and worn thin;
not just by others, but also by myself.
Speaking One's mind
isn't always the best idea.
Sometimes, One is much better off
keeping it to One's self.

Try doing what I do:
carry a pen and notebook all the time
and write down those thoughts;
transmute thy darkness into a muse.

Make it constructive
rather than destructive,
lest it poison your life
as opposed to enriching it.

Jesus
Jesus is a personification of the Sage;
a metaphor for the Sun
and for the path to enlightenment.

Perhaps he was not a real person;
perhaps a personification of some Shaman,
or he perhaps could have been a mushroom
that was called 'jesus' to disguise the source
of these enlightening ideas
from the totalitarian Roman authorities:

If you seek to understand how all is one yet separate;
take some certain Mushrooms in a safe environment
then meditate under a tree at noon until three;
write down the ideas you have:
they reflect your path.

Yet it is treated as illegal;
it is executed publicly.
Crucified on the hill.

Sound familiar?
As I lay in the corner
hunched over in tears
you stand before me in shadow,
we've not spoken in years.

"How are you, what's it like?" I implore,
met with comfortable Silence:
Enlightenment galore.

Though you have not recently
been in this realm,
you seem to be fine
and quite underwhelmed.

"There's nothing quite like it"
you reply with a grin
"It's almost like someone
got rid of Sin,"

"Why is it you wish
to know what it's like?
Perhaps you would like
to come on a hike?"

"No, I'm not quite ready
for that I'm afraid;
I've too much yet to do today,
there's much Art to be made."

"Ah yes, so I see
this seems to be true,
but who cares for such Art,
Art made by you?"

"I care not for how many care for it,
but I do care that anyone does at all.
I wish to immerse myself in all kinds of expression,
to preclude a sort of subconscious regression.

I care not for those who seek profit, like you,
but I would like to perchance become a Prophet anew;
though not of an -ism or even an -ology,
though perhaps for some secular abstract new-found old Spirituality.
One wherein all is but creative Godself
looking at itselves
in trillions of shattered mirrors
upon multidimensional shelves
and, odd though it may seem,
All is One through it,
yet as separate, All dreams."

"You, my Child, may be a gift unto Man.
Were I alive, I'd be your number one fan."

"You flatter me, Apparition,
but you were already my fan
far before my Path ever even began.
Still, I must ask, if indeed I can;
O familiar Ghost, tell me, what is thy plan?

"My plan, my Child, is to live on within you,
to continue your journey upon this thy subtle Path.
To set ablaze this boundless passion I sense within you.
To live in the shades of greys between the Black and White
To know that you are alive.
To know that you ever lived.
Your Mother and I both deeply love you
and though I have died, I live on within you."

And that was the last
conversation I had
with my dear old friend
that I had in my Dad.

T'was not in the land of the waking
this conversation was had,
t'was in a dream he spoke to me,
my ethereal Dad.

I seek neither pity nor compassion for Pain,
I seek only to try to explain
the infinitely vivid field of Experience
to which we're all subjected by some strange spirit valence:

*Thy Path, thine in Time.
You walk it for a reason,
even if obscured.

Time unfolds thy Path,
yet before Time was it set;
thine and thine alone:

Let no thing stray thee from thy Path.

Filiopietism
"Fi-li-o-pi-e-tism"
Noun:
An often excessive veneration of ancestors or tradition such that new ideas are generally discouraged, often via punishment, and conformity is strictly enforced.

-The Monkey Lesson-
In 1967, a psychological experiment was conducted on rhesus monkeys:

Five  monkeys (A, B, C, D, E) in a room with a ladder, upon which are bananas.
As any given monkey climbs the ladder for the food, the rest are sprayed down with cold water.
Eventually, the monkeys learn to punish the one who climbs to preclude discomfort for the group.

One monkey (A) is then swapped out for a new one (1) that hasn't gotten the cold shower.
As 1 inevitably strives for the bananas, monkeys B, C, D, and E immediately punish.

Another monkey (B) is swapped out for a new one (2) that tries for the bananas
and 1, C, D, and E punish.

A third monkey is substituted (3) and not knowing of the original circumstance reaches for food.
1, 2, D, and E drop the hammer.

A fourth is introduced (4) in place of another original member (D),
and the beatings continue from 1, 2, 3, and E.

Finally the fifth is substituted (5) in place of the final original member (E),
and the group (1, 2, 3, 4) keeps up the trend of assault.

The result is a group of monkeys
that never received the cold water treatment
that still continued to castigate any individual
that tried to climb the ladder for the food.

Status Quo = State of Control
(Disclaimer: There is no blame here!! Fret not. It's impersonal.)

You* are a snide, condescending, shallow and self-absorbed person.
You treat others like dirt with what you imply
You show respect for only that which reminds you of yourself.
You build a firewall for certain people without ever learning the first thing about them.
You're a vacuous shell of misfounded hate and synthetic blame.
You need to stop being so ******* 'matter-of-fact' all the time.
You make Narcissus proud:

Projecting your Shadow and your desires unto others, as if they were a silver screen
and being disappointed in them when they

You claim to be in a position of clarity, of authority, of understanding.
You seem to be in a position of self-assured ignorance and of delusion.

You covet the attention of those who would worship the ground upon which you tread,
but those who worship you could be the same you push away in your fit of self-righteous rage.

As you read this, you immediately think of those who you quantify as these things
as if people are subject to quantification, much less by your standards,
without ever recognizing the poisonous signs within yourself.
As you haste away in guilt, you forget what you could have learned:

Everyone is fallible.
That gives neither you nor them the right to use one's fallibility as a weapon or source of leverage.

but that of your self.
