the human spirit is like a fire*
it rages, bellowing out
cries of passion and fury
yet is silenced
by the fear of the dark,
where we lose ourselves
between what is real
and what is not
let us remember to dream
as though we'll live forever
dream on, dream on
let our spirits cling
to the knowledge of truth
that will forever shine
where there is no light
an everlasting fire
that burns at the core
of our existence
shaping the very foundation
of our lives

i live inside my mind
it's a broken home
negative thoughts line the walls
insecurities cook in the kitchen
broken is an understatement
i'm internal
not external
i won't tell you i'm dying
you will see it, feel it, hear it
that's how i am
it's how i'll always be
i don't think i will ever be set free
from myself

I stumble
   with every
     *step I take

   away from
you, but too
  drunk to
     *get too far...

I write to set my demons free
To let them out into the sun
Hoping they will vanish from my sight
I write so I can spill love, loss, and hate onto blank paper
Instead of my conscience.

Whisper me sweet nothings of time melting away these regrets
Or how time itself melted away all these months and years apart
Assure me that the years have dulled these memories, diluted their potency
Lie to me and tell me these memories have faded or that time heals all

Time, the biggest liar of all,
Taking memories and simply aging them in oak barrels to be sampled like a fine whiskey with a cigar or a side of regret

Time doesn't heal a **** thing,
It makes tragedy tolerable,
Like soldiers desensitized to the smell of death and rot

Time can't heal a story whose happy ending can never be written as intended,
It can only lend itself so that the story may be rewritten.
