Can a thought or feeling be larger than a universe? Love is the only trait that is worth remembering because it is meant to be given away selflessly. The recipient is as happy to receive it as you were to give it! To my friends those of you whom I hold dear If you'd like to be added to this years Canon message me. I will do my best to add you to this poem.
Rolling down the hill laughing, tumbling not caring; free as I get coated in grass stains and mud

Careful not to smudge the mascara, applying eye liner and sigh in relief to have not  sullied my face saving embarrassment

Giddy selecting sweets from the colourful array to buy with MY money; as much as I can!

Glancing at my seemingly large stomach in this dress I opt for a salad; as always (bland) but at least  I'll be slimmer

Card trades, the politics of the playground, using trickery and bribery to get the best, feeling like a boss

Eyeing him with a secure hand in his, falling hard, to notice her gaze at him and subtly securing dominance of his heart.

The door bell rings and there stands the gang ready with bikes and water guns to surrender ourselves to the sunny day

The Suns out and the lighting is absolutely perfect for a selfie so with a stretched grin I snap, Photoshop and Instagram

Toys R Us our haven and envious glances at those who could afford the best and most exquisite Bratz sets or card sets

The rare visits to the Apple Store are exciting even to just gaze at the new iPhone 5 and hold it awhile....

The joy oh the joy of reading time, together we sat and took turns, enjoying the sharing of a tale*

With my phone in hand not a minute goes by that I don't check my Facebook page for notifications
/child me VS teenage me/
When I was little.
When I was little.
WHEN I was little.
When did that "I am" become a "When I".
I've lived my whole life,
I've never stopped,
I went straight from one to two,
two to three,
three to four,
no pause,
no breaks,
straight on through to the tender age of 19.
I went from
barbie dolls to polly pockets,
bratz dolls to bicycles,
ipods to computers,
computers to cars,
cars to cigarettes,
cigarettes to alcohol.
When did it happen?
When did the little girl become,
a teenager,
a teenager struggling with herself,
with her life,
trying to decide how she wants to spend the rest of it.
I want to go back to first grade,
sitting up in my bunk bed crying because I couldn't read yet,
to classroom parties,
recess,
staying up late the night before 5th grade practicing my long division because I was afraid of my new teacher.
I don't stay up late worrying about my long division anymore.
I stay up late worrying about the state our world is in.
Scared to death that I'm going to give in to society.
I can't bear the thought that the little girl I see in all of my old pictures,
with all the hope in her eyes,
grows into a tired adult,
faking a smile because she forgot how not to.
Going through the same routine.
If I could go back to a younger me,
I would give her ear plugs.
So she wouldn't be able to hear the boy in her class tell everyone Santa Clause isn't real.
So she could block out the insults thrown her way because being 90 pounds in 4th grade was WAY to fat.
So she could muffle out the reality,
and live in her own world for awhile.
I'm living this life not entirely proud of who I am,
or the choices I make,
but I want to make sure of one thing.
If I ever run into my younger self one day in another reality,
I want to make sure I've made her proud.
Because being a kid is hard,
but so is being an adult.
Life is difficult,
and the truth is harsh.
Because when one turns into two,
two turns into 19,
19 turns into 45,
45 turns into 70,
and 70 turns into a headstone.
And at that point,
we've got to hope we did it right.

My eyes are windows to the living,
I am not dead yet,
Beyond the dead , I'm alive,
Alive child,
A wild child.

My brows mean as MuMu says
"Look into my eyes chile!"

My mental state is a dollhouse...
I play out scenes in my mind,
As I'm seeing my way out the windows...
Out of the window and into your worlds,
Different stories,
Your alive just like I...
You know in a way we are alike,
You & Me.
Our souls brings the best of feelings,
Flowers blooming in the spring,
Oh i wish ...
I close my windows,
& my dollies fall back into an abyss,
Chained away in a rusty old treasure chest,

Oh God, Dear God,
How can i make a dollhouse for the dollies to live in,
I'm alive ,
But my dollies are in a chest of sin,
I want to break the ribs and reach in to save my ole' friends,
They are plastic but they are my only kin,
**** they are my best friends,

Lips big as blow up dolls,
Their body weight is 80% of alcohol,
It's how i made them...
Their clothes are made out of
The blood I bathe in,
Latex leggings and waist clinchers,
Pale as the purest sand,
Balloon fake ****,
Contoured cheekbones,
You would think they were Bratz clones...

My dollies need a H.O.M.E

I write with a pink Bic now

My phone is white and out of storage and I’m not connected to the
cloud because it freaks me out, so every time I delete a picture, she
asks “are you sure?” And I “delete anyway”
My high school best friend’s cousin’s husband just died and I’m
wondering why I’m weeping for a kin I never grew akin to, a mere
stranger, a subtle blip in my matrix. But his poetry
is beautiful, I know that. And his music is beautiful, I know that.
I drank a root beer float tonight and the night before, or did I eat it? It
reminded me of buying 99 cent slushes at Convenient. Or the
“healthy” slushes I bought to accompany my soft pretzel everyday
   in middle school.
On the terrace, everyone else ate hot dogs and I looked down,
holding my soggy French fries and wondering what else there is out
there besides ketchup and mustard: like in Princess Diaries when
Julie Andrews puts mustard on her corndog. I always thought
   that was so cool.
Or when Mia Thermopolis sit sideways in her giant comfy chair after
throwing darts at balloons filled with paint aka “stupid cupid stop
picking on me” or is it… “hitting on me”
Remember when Ben Day asked for pictures and when you sent cute
selfies in your sports bra, he responded, “okay, but can they not be
   of your face?”
Or when Ben Wilson taught you that “hurt people hurt people” and
had “ultra conservative” on his Facebook page underneath political
views and you had go ask what that meant. I Corinthians 1:13 or
something like that was always my favorite bible verse because its
the only one I ever learned by heart.
Hail Satan.
We all rot under late capitalism.
But I didn’t know that then. I know that now, but not then.
Now I wonder mostly about the ethics behind “procreating.” I wanna
bear fruit, but I can’t even stand the thought of myself burning in a
fiery pit, let alone my spawn.
But,
My stepsister is pregnant. She found out the “gender” today, “boy.”
My nieces and nephews have had a very gendered upbringing, I
guess I did too: barbies and bratz and Betty spaghetti.
I know everyone always says they just want a “healthy, happy baby”
But I have a crippling nicotine addiction and manic depression, I’m
   not healthy or happy.
Do you think I was the idea my parents pictured when my mom peed
on that stick and got a plus sign?
Probably not.
I hate to disappoint.
They can live in the glory days when my cursive handwriting was
better than anyone else’s in my second grade class. Olivia Layne

I was going through our closet today.
Folders filled with pages of us are everywhere.
This, is how I know we existed.
I cried ya know,
dropping you off at college
was the first time in 6 years I had to admit
you were gone.
PLEASE COME BACK!
I remember the barbie doll house,
the polly pockets and bratz.
That's where you are.
I shoved you in a box filled with our toys
that we stilled played with when we were children.
You're stuffed away in our attic,
I'm scared to open the door,
scared your ghost will come out and haunt me,
PLEASE COME BACK!
I was nervous,
that's the only reason I hurt you.
Do you remember when I was little,
leaving bite marks and bruises,
you were my safety when I was scared.
PLEASE COME BACK!
You use to be too scared to leave me,
you wanted me at your side,
all day all night.
Now the thought of being in the same room as me,
makes you sick.
Where did we go wrong?
When will you get over me embarrassing you
6 years ago?
When will I be able to say "I love you"
having you say it back,
without me bursting into tear?
PLEASE COME BACK!
If I could take away your pain
making everything a dream,
please know I would.
Bonded by blood,
separated by differences.
Lexi I love you,
sisters forever.
*PLEASE COME BACK TO ME.

four in the morning, the trees are breathing and i'm in sync.
took me forever to start liking the side of my face but i'm doing it.
the glow and the light that i see in my peripheral is a sign, it all feels like signs and this path i'm paving is mine.
the sun hasn't come up but i smell the morning air, it's a mix of grass and nostalgia and safety.
it's my mom waking me and my sisters up to go to my grandmas,
it's church camp,
it's garage sales and littlest pet shop and monster high and bratz.
took me forever to start just Being and Living but i'm doing it.
i've always liked the silence before we begin again, before we're born again.

FWUMP! And a gasp. What the f-…

My thoughts blur around me
Shoals of vivid colour and incomplete thoughts
My heart threatens arrest and drums beat.

Hands fly out as if to catch
me before I fall again
Just soft duvet and…fur?

The dog? Right! THE DOG!
My overly attached shirt hugs my back
As the overly attached me hugs the
dog.

Madonna was there, and so was Brittany Spears
Dancing like only 90’s babes know how.
The tie-dye dance floor made the trips seem tame
And the 3D reality turned sound into the touch of
zero gravity.

A black limo oozed from between the waves of psychedelics
The window glimmered the black of money and power.
The Bratz? What the fu-…
Overly sized lips laughed at my frown.

Do you ever get that feeling that
The plummeting sensation when falling asleep
is just you standing up? In bed. Then collapsing.
A cruel joke the psyche plays on the physical.

As f the body is to marionet, and the mind
The puppet master.
A game of “Tag, you’re dead!” ha ha.
What the ****…

Such wonderful sleep, in such wonderful dreams.
