This is for amir sofi

Because it took me a total of 30 seconds after he walked on stage to think
"where is he from"
because i'm probably still pronouncing his name wrong
Because he is a brown boy in a mistakenly white america
Amir i am sorry
I share a well known thought process when it comes to you
i think
"I wonder where his family lives"
"I wonder if they are all together"
"I wonder how he got here"
"I wonder what he believes in"
"I wonder if he is a citizen"
As if it is any of my ******* business whether or not you pay taxes
I am 17 years old, I don't really care about taxes
and i don't think they should determine your amount of freedom
So why is it when you walk on stage my biggest concern is your citizenship to this country.
Amir there is something we need to understand
I will not stand here to wallow in self pity about how i am not progressive enough
I will not let you stand there and listen to a poem about my underdeveloped thought process
We need to be proactive lets make a plan
how about we
Paint everybody brown We can assemble a street team, some very enthusiastic people with paint brushes who want to change the world
Oh Oh how about we assassinate the president that always seems to get a point across. wait, that would be counter productive
this president is a step for us
Oh i got it! petition to make every american constantly where a blindfold
you can't judge skin you can't see
petition to paint the white house purple!
Thats it!  Here me out!
You're a brown boy in a country managed by a black man in a white house.
This doesn't sound very balanced, people are being represented but you are not all people amir
I just think the place where our countries biggest decisions are made should be a color not designated to a certain race.
And i kinda like the color purple
Alright that's step one
Whats next?
More paint?
Making all of the skittles in the package one color so people don't have a chance to pick their favorites.
I heard you amir
to many people of color spend their lives painting things white
don't change your last name for me i will adapt
we will all adapt
you to the long and challenging process of acceptance from southern man
and us to the to changing our hearts to embracing every color
Thank you Amir for your patience
I am so sorry about your calluses
thank you for what you have become amir
I appreciate you amir

It started with your standard tinder date.
I think we both agree if now feels like fate.
When we first met we were yearning to touch,
now i know i love you so much.
When i look at you time stops still,
and when you smile you give me such a thrill.
Two days before my birthday I made you mine.
It really feels like i have known you a life time.
Sofi you make my heart feel electric
and what we have is cosmic.

Down on our southern border a family
Has found itself in a scary position.
Three kids have a decision to make--
The youngest with a heart condition:

Will they stay here with their mom
While she pleads their asylum case
Or leave the country with Dad? What
A horrible choice for a kid to face!

The youngest--Sofi--just three-years old--
Clutched onto her mother but had
A crying fit when the agents
Separated them from their dad.

Forced to leave Honduras because
Of death threats, the family came
Here seeking asylum and got
Caught up in a political game.

Apparently, certain border agents
And heartless lawmakers entertain
The notion that it's quite all right
To be cruel and inhumane.

Family separation continues.
Wouldn't it be hard to rejoice
If YOU came here seeking refuge
And had to make Sofi's choice?

Dear Andy, Thank you and Goodbye.

2/24/11

A deep tiresome passion has been building up inside me,
And it’s been two months and six days since I last saw you.
At the beach is where I’ll find you and is where I soon will be.
We’ll see each other and I’ll recover because you’ll be next to me.

Soft and smooth are your curly brown locks,
And sweet and luscious are your round small lips.
The scent of you with all your letters in my little green box,
Now I see your green eyes and feel your warm finger tips.

Slow and seductive are the long whispers I keep,
And it’s your voice I hear daily with little hope.
In my dreams is where I’ll find you as I fall into sleep,
And in the sunset we do paddle in the swan love boat.

2/27/11

The sand is in between the keyboard keys and caked onto my knees,
With a glass of wine at ten thirty in the morning I sit only broken hearted
A night together on the beach I had planned for two months, but you lied to me
All a lie, you scammed me how could I have been out smarted.

Lying together all day, and drinking late into night,
Only to crawl to the twin bed in the early hours of the morning.
You’d caress me as I sleep and hold me until awoken by sunlight.
Soon you must leave to go home, but I will visit soon and bring you loving.

Two months have passed and most days we’ve spoken,
But it seems now another girl found her way into the picture.
Without a word you have lured me here only to leave me broken.
You praise her and I watch just like a permanent wall fixture.

Thanks for the lies, and all the wasted time.
This is the end of the all the extra feelings.
My life is taking a rapid U-turn without you in line.
Please enjoy her company while I stand here dying.

Sincerely,

Sofi Lilly

Stay with me Howl,
Sofi’s hands pressed against his wounds.
The blood gently slipped through her fingers,
evading her desperate attempts of preserving life in
his quivering body.
The blood tarnished his admiral feathers into a crimson blue,
echoing the fleeting of the roseate sky.
The war that scorched the land was to rid of an angel.
Murmurs of a curse,
a pulsing heart torn from the chest of a man.
A witch, whom bewildered by unscathed beauty
and scorned by his indifference,
sealed it in the flames of a devil.
Even so, Sofi loved him no more than the stars that he
danced in, archipelagos of the ether, where his wings
wielded the air to his command, a seraph in the stygian
skies, his smile resonated a boundless light onto a tenebrous
world, where malice had seized the hearts of men.
The crepuscule paved way for the birth of the moonflowers,
which in mourning, rose to cradle the lovers in their hold.
The wind rises and the little spirits frantically rush to
attest the passing of a love so great, that evil Cain
could not waver.
The moon rose into that brisk night,
having set its emissaries to cloak his gentle
spirit in a fabric of white light, severing the chains that
bound him to a putrid earth.
The fates had spun the thread, but adamant,
She held onto the last strand.
