Distant dreams and memories
Lost opportunities it seems
To the things that could have been
Reflecting on the past at half mast
Easier with hindsight to look at what might
A contestable question mentioned
How far do we plan with conviction
Experience paves the way
Flicking through past sections
Sets direction led astray on a page
Which ways do we cultivate
To lead the order of our day

Nothing about life is impossible,
viewed while looking up

Nothing about death is reversible,
viewed while looking down

All in between is contestable,
winds blow North and South

Nothing promised, nothing cursed
—the choice to laugh or frown

(Ouray Colorado: October, 1995)
Awaken ****** feelings again, and I’m upset with myself
Await contestable screenings ahead with open wit

A little health as: what if I retain something?
You’re standing in close discussion, not knowing my sins

The breaking matched with the healing in step, they slowly stretch a rubber band
Making odds of the dealing at hand, and then pretend it’s alright

I’m not a man or a pig in a fight
Maybe I’ll wait by the road, that’s where the passersby go
Just trying to fight the feeling
just trying to fight a feeling
just trying to fight the feeling
just trying to fight the feeling

Home, some time alone
Alone, some time alone
Time alone, some time alone

Awaken ancient appealings again, and I’m upset with myself
A fated crack in the sealing of them. The former wept,

the latter fell so sick in such an act
I’m resting well, like it’s not the best that’ll ever happen

Away this temper concealment in pen, the white and red should make a bet
Awaken ****** feelings again, so I’m upset

And I can’t tell how happy I feel in trust,
But I’m still thinking a bit about it, the battered body
Just trying to fight the feeling
just trying to fight the feeling
just trying to fight the feeling
just trying to fight the feeling

Home, some time alone
Time alone, some time alone
Alone, some time alone
