I watch the flow of petals swoon
Under summer shade
Relax to sounds of birdsong blues
With a glass of lemonade
Catnaps in the daytime
Dreaming of clouds in flight
A luxury for some of us
Which just isn’t right
So I live out every moment
Future looking bright
Hidden in my vision
A summers day delight
teetering on the edge of forever
staring into the abyss of eternity
clutching onto the hope of growth
questioning evolution
in the search for truth
teetering on the edge of forever
spending eternity with you
teetering on the edge of forever

Happiness speaks of life's half only

the entirety is spoken by tragedy

In the first light of this day
with too little sleep
I am feeling tired and vulnerable
but I have entered the dreams, fears, and pains
of other poets from far and wide
and it seems
we are all growing and dying together
maybe just a little at a time
line by line
these spirits enter me
and assure me I am not alone
in this drift.
I came into our garden room before dawn this morning and read several poems of my friends and fellow poets on this website, the last one (https://hellopoetry.com/poem/4409062/the-yearning/) from Khoi, my South African friend, who seemed to be telling me, in his beautifully poetic way, that some kind of end is near. Lately I have been feeling my age both in body and mind. So this poem is what came out of this sense of angst early this Thursday morn.

Yes,
it hurt,
but not so much
for what you did,
but because of your dishonesty.
You ran away with the moon
and blamed it on the sun.
You left me in
the dark.
