I smiled
at the nurse practitioner
as she googled me
checked my prostrate
found my web site and
found I was still
young enough
young enough
not dead yet
I wanted to yell into her
stethoscope
want to have a cup
of coffee later, babe?
As I grow older
I appreciate life more
Even my wrinkles
I'm turned 49 last month and even though life at times can be challenging I'm the happiest I've ever been :-)
No life or death
Pain or pleasure
Galaxy
Or Universe
No more beautiful dawns or dusks
No world of wonders
Or anything
Once we are gone.

So it’s Now Boys!
Attention!
As Huxley said
On “Island”.
Live for Now.
For this very moment.

Stop.
Let your mind go blank.
Listen to your body
And all that surrounds you.

Breathe in the oxygen
That gives us life.
Admire the sky
And all beneath it.

Join with nature:
Sapping grass and foliage
The song of birds
As Mummy Sparrow feeds her fluffy chick
Its beak open wide
Clamouring for food.

Enjoy it all
While it lasts.

Paul Butters
This one has been simmering for a while....
******* up
on a rocket ship,
send me fast
on my final
fatal trip,
skip this ****,
tip your waitress,
and let me leave this
graceless existence.
I got the worst human deformity,
a kind heart and extremely sharp mind.
You see one or the other
would be so much better.
A soft soul with a sweet disposition
tempered by a lack of information
would make facing reality
a little less bitter and heartbreaking.
While a rational mind minus
the temperament of the compassionate kind
would make broken hearts
a thing of the past.
I want to look beyond the past,
and be a true gentleman,
but to be aggressive,
competitive, and
alpha minded is what
the cattle wants.
Unfortunately, due to a mix up
I got both qualities
which makes me
so ****** up
and disposable.
I've decided
to let you go off
into your own yesterday's
to perch upon a tree branch
where the green leaves have fallen
and the moon sits silently
watching you , caring for you
guilding you without your
knowledge of knowing
that one day in the future
you will wake up
and realise there's more to life
than the end of a rolled up
drunken cigarette.
