Poet chicks
Odd, indeed
Every race, every colour
Every creed
Some of us daughters
Some mothers
Emotions intense
Especially when we're lovers
It takes great courage you know
To do what poet chicks do
Serving our feelings up
On this screen for You
Heroines of words
World's in which we live
Poet chicks are rarely greedy
With all the emotions we give
I raise my glass to you
Poet chicks around the world
Never drop your pens
Or forget, that you ROCK girls
For all the poetesses here at hp who've been so kind to me and taken me on the most beautiful, sad, dark, happy, lustful, romantic journeys. Thank you for letting me wander through your dreams;)
 May 2016 The Lunchtime Poet
Kush
The night casts its long shadow over my flesh and blood
Yet, my body chooses not to fall into the natural rhythms of slumber
My eyelids are made of stone and are locked securely in place
My imagination runs amok and dreams fill up my void
The song of crickets punctuates the conversation with myself
Days long since past are still fresh in my memory
I feel like ideas are surging through my head ready to burst through my eardrums
But my arms and legs do not match my metaphysical wishes
They are numb and useless
Like a slow river, the bed seems to carry me to eternity
Gently taking me to a place far away
I need to rest so badly
The pangs of responsibility echo through my being
I have things to do; I have people to meet
It’s a curse
To never be able to match the cycle of the light
To bear witness to the passing of time
Locked in a coffin of consciousness
Ah, the sun is back; time to drag this empty husk out of bed
Light pours through the blinds, in an endless stream
No, arouse yourself from this folly
The shadow still remains
You were always wide awake
Hopelessly thinking of tomorrow
Pondering this night until daybreak
Hey you
Standing in corner of your fears
Surrounded with the one
Who pretend they know how you feel

Taking every breath
Wondering is it poisoned?
Will this one hurt as well?

Hitting your chest...Does it still beat?
Where is the way out...?
Will it ever stop?
What if it takes me, what if i can't fight anymore?

Hey you
Taking the fight for others to have peace
Tears for others to have smiles
Fear for others to have freedom.

Yes you!
Let me breath with you
Let me take your pain and sorrow
Share the burden, heal the wounds.
Let me show you… I have battles too.

But as it starts it will stop…
As it breathe it will beat
It will take what you give.

Hey you,
You know there is more than this
Let this be your way in or out.

M.T. 2016.
It was unbroken

But still unhinged

A world divided

Shots rang across the seas

  Mercy was begged for

One side cried victory the other shame

No one won when the casualties came

Number beyond what should have been made the winners losers and the losers no change

Years go by with heads held high and hands held together

Unity helps the madness

Scars mark it but still it is somehow unbroken

After all that happened it stays together

Unhinged is what it is if you bring your eyes closer to the surface

Insane with the pressure to provide strength but still see so much pain

Call it what you see but it truly is

A world unbroken

Yet a world unhinged
