I keep
Telling myself I'm done,
I'm not going to do this anymore
It's a waste of time, waste of energy;
It doesn't feel good; I should stop;
I can stop; I will stop; and
Then I don’t

673 billion breaths in a lifetime

but the moments where we are truly living

are the moments that take our breath away
sitting on my loggia

on a balmy spring evening
after a short return of winter
a drink on my side
the birds chirping their evening song
the sun slanted
straight into my eyes

my favorite radio station
has declared jazz day
so I have been enjoying
Dizzie Gillespie, Charlie Parker
Joe Zawinul, Benny Goodman, & cetera

lovely

yet I have the blues

I had to take
my woman to the airport today
she’s now miles away from me

she mailed me
she arrived safely

I am glad to know

but she still is
miles away from me

I have the blues
Discovered this verse that had gotten stored in the wrong directory of my laptop quite a while ago .... digitalization has its pitfalls ..

Lantern on a Rock

Sometimes I would look at him and know--
by his focus in the distance--
more often than we knew--

Alone
and far off
in the hills of Hatfield
walking with a stick
and can of bait in hand
Past some fields of corn and shade tobacco
like a **** along the road
he made his way

Sometimes to accompany the sun
toward its western home
He lay across Old Jerry's withers
as they clopped along
watching it set over the Connecticut
that curled its orange meandering
around the mountains
of imagining
its contentment

Later
after mother made the diner
with all the colors of a summer's glory
he went fishing in the moonlight
of his youth
with dearest friends

Lantern on a rock
of memory
to light the way
I have Dad's old milking lantern now. On my last visit with him, he talked about night fishing on the Connecticut River with it.  On another last visit as he gazed out across the valley, he said he wanted to be out hiking in those mountains.

Happy Father's Day Dad.

Once you start to feel older,
and become much less bolder.
When life can get you weary
and memories become teary.

If everything seems full of dread and eerie
or after the day you can only see dusk.
If your life feels full of misfortune and dreary.
Stand up and do what you must.

Go out and find a friend you can trust.

I'm not "smart" like them.

I'm not "bright" as them.

I'm not "confident" like them.

I'm not "beautiful" as them.

I'm not "someone" like them.

Can you just accept that?

I don't like crying myself anymore

-Said myself in the mirror.
Mirror, mirror on the wall
In Japan there is an art form
called kintsukuroi which means
to repair with gold
When a ceramic *** or bowls
would break the artisan would
put the pieces together again
using gold or silver lacquer
to create something stronger
forevermore beautiful than before
The breaking is never something
to hide
It doesn’t mean that the work of the art
is ruined or without value because
it is different than what anticipated
Kintsukuroi is a way of living that
embraces every flaw and imperfections
Every crack is part of the  history of
the object and it becomes forevermore
beautiful
precisely because it has been
broken
I’ve told this story to tell you this
People are the same way
Being hurt or heart broken
or feeling broken generally
is not who you are
It is something that happens to you
Rise up stand proud and move forward
Stop looking about what the world says
about you and who you are
The value of your worth is more
than you can ever conceive
and when you trust
in your heart you’ll understand
the Power you house within
Cracks and all your true value
can never be lost in translation
Know the value of your worth, you worth more than gold... made to an exact specification!
