Every night, we sat
Beneath this tree
Chatting, giggling, admiring what we see
And then, you stopped and whisper

"Do you hear it?" you said
"The sounds of our doubts being chased away"
"Which is why I love to stare at them"
"Those pesky fireflies, you used to hate"

I was dumbfounded, confused at first
But then you moved closer, and raised your hand
You pointed at something, it sparkles here and there

"Do you see them" you said
"The stars, it talks to me"
"They tell me stories, the ones you used hate"
"Soon I'll join them, so find me there okay?"

I clenched my fist,
my eyes are blurry
Our promise was broken,
but do you need to hurry?

You smiled at me,
                                     With those puppy dog eyes
I wanted to swear,
As they rob us of our time

Slowly you faded,
                             Vanishing through the mist
                                                                         I wanted to say something
But it was already ending

So every night, I sat
Beneath this tree
Looking upwards, with head held high
Hoping to find you
Under this lustful sky
Sorry, it took me so long, but here I am, will still try to write something from time to time :)

I sit and wail
As memories of you swell
Threating to bring down the wall
As I remember your final fall

You fell right through my out stretched arms
I could not save you from your demons harm
I could not bring you back to me
Now your memories is all I have to see

I was so angry you left me here all alone
This cut is deep, right to the bone
A wound that will never heal, never become just a scar
As you now dwell amongst the stars

Now I find, I turn my eyes to the midnight sky
The tears rolling quickly and quietly as I cry
I'm searching for something left by you
A shooting star, a comet, a clue
Just to let me know your okay, that you made it through

That would make it worth our final good bye
Maybe then my tears would subside
Maybe then they would turn to silent sighs
But the pain will always be with me that is true
For my dearest friend, I will forever miss you

Till we meet again on the other side
There's one thing that will never die
It is constant, it will always be the same
My love for you will always remain

My mind has been made up
I will wait for the day that I will see you again
You died for a reason
And you didn't die in vain

Our brotherhood will never break
From friend to brother
We've been friends from the beginning
And I will never forget you

You left me with a promise
I will make that promise happen
I will do this for you
For we are brothers

When I saw you being buried
I mourned for you
Because you mean so much to me
And I want you to know that

It's been 19 long years
Since we became friends
This year is our 20th
Although I am not with you

We had lots of fun back in the day
But that's the past
We went on our separate ways
And I know it's for the best

We are still brothers
From beginning to end
We are still brothers
No matter what happens

We may in different dimensions
But I know that you are looking at me from above
You've been looking after me since we were young
Now it's my time to become independent

I will fulfill the promise we both made
I will do everything I can to accomplish it
This poem is dedicated to you, old friend
Till we meet again
