i sure do hope
you will reach upon the day which
you will sit back
and start reminiscing your past
and remember those moments
which you have gone through
and laugh over your miseries
because my, oh my
you have already come this far

just hang in there

                                        Death at 0200

Graduation shouldn’t be marked with casualty lists
Commencement’s happiness blighted by dawn
The quotes from Frost and Lincoln ashes and smoke
“Go forth!” now cancelled by “services pending”

Graduation shouldn’t be marked by casualty lists
A seat in university taken by another
A summer wedding that will never take place
A name not on the list at recruit training

Graduation shouldn’t be marked by casualty lists
Of lives ended in the springtime of youth

These
John Allen Dec 2013
These 0200 mornings
starting the day
before even resting from the last
my mind races
calling forth all the seamless tales of old

These tales -> play
mistakes -> play
lies -> play
truths -> play
shes -> play

the criminating flashes propose punishment

a broken heart, trust in no one, faith only in deception, These mornings
all is not enough to appease my accuser
that is fine because These accusations were not placed face to face
These are just tales that repeatedly punish

a broken heart, trust in no one, faith only in deception, These mornings

a broken heart, trust in no one, faith only in deception, These mornings

a broken heart, cracked, and bleeding
These mornings

are you happy?

                                         Offering it Up at 0200

Offering up the surging pain - but to whom?
There doesn’t seem to be Anyone there
The hissing CPAP doesn’t want to talk
Outside the window there is no good-night moon

One could allude to the clock ticking in the night-time
But there is no clock ticking in the night-time
Because there are no clocks to tick anymore
Only computers manacled to our wrists

Two-o’clock-in-the-morning courage?
Just now there seems to be no Purpose in it
I pinched a few allusions from Margaret Wise Brown and Arthur Conan Doyle.

THE LIGHT
Edi Supriyadi Mar 2010
When the light of life ascends
Amazes the mindful souls that thinks
As it drowns to the belly of Mother Nature
Admires the tender soul that weeps

When the light of the dark days rises
Overwhelm the joyful soul that loves
As it falls to the cradle of the clouds
Long the divine souls that never sleeps

When the light of our souls appear
Brighten the darkest part of our heart
Illuminate the shade of our mind
As it extend to the core of our life
Blessed is our souls

0100 and I’m thinking of you. I can’t get you out of my head.
0200 I’m thinking of you and all the things you said.
0300 I’m thinking of you, your voice echos in my mind.
0400 I’m thinking of you and the solution we can’t seem to find.
0500 I’m thinking of you as I start to drift to sleep.
0600 I’m dreaming of you and for a moment you’re mine to keep.
1200 I open my eyes and wonder if you miss me too.
1300 I start to think I’ll never stop thinking of you.

                                                   A Soup

A soup is just a little can of soup
Available in the prison commissary
A little warmth to get you through the night
If there is anything in your account

A little jar of powdered instant coffee
Available in the prison commissary
A ceremony of innocence, as Yeats would say
If there is anything in your account

And wakefulness at 0200, a hope -
If there is anything in that account
"A soup" is a prison term for a can of soup purchased at the commissary. Some units feature a urn of warm - not hot - water for instant coffee, noodles, or soup.
