Sanctuary is here; hiding in plain sight
Bedimmed beings step into the light
Stumble upon you may; hear us you might
All is welcome; no guard dogs that bite

Step inside, matters not armed or unarmed
Come as you are; steady or alarmed
Sip and drink from our collective fountains
Rest your eyes on our self painted mountains

Come on close and meet us all
Under shady trees or beyond the knoll
Some of us don masks or hide behind names
Some come naked but we're all one and the same

See our lives, spun from heavy layered bales
Woven intricate telling fantastic tales
Weavings we let fly, to catch each other's fables and stories
We admire them for what they are and the seed each carries

Be aware... Should you not understand
We may bear similar signatures but wear different brands
We, the people, trade in euphemisms
Broken sentences and long forgotten idioms

We are weavers, dreamers and scribes
Pouring here the outside world we imbibe
We are unguarded hearts speaking in metaphoric tongues
We provide safe haven for bruised souls with punctured lungs

So welcome traveler, shed your load
You might like it here in our coveted abode
Revel in the monochromatic sights you see
Where freedom of thought is revered in this here Sanctuary...

~

She saw him in the distance,
mistook him
for a man
she hoped he would be

As he stood before her
she still saw him
as he was in the distance

She didn't notice
all the tell tale signs
of a man
she hoped
he wouldn't be

She continued
ignoring the flaws
or was it just
'loving him'?

She may never know
until it's too late

70 miles an hour and the crash called
Said now is your time and I am the wall
To smash you and trash you, turn you into pulp
And the mini bus driver just thought it a joke

I'd just overtaken that bus full of guys
Now the truck getting nearer, I'm nearly alongside
No warning atall and the minibus was there
Filling my windscreen with a heartrending scare

There never was room for him to get up ahead
I thought this was it, 3 of us will be dead
The two dogs as well there would have met the same fate
I don't know how but I stood on the brake

Into the traffic there on my right
I managed to avoid them kept the barrier in sight
Now the rear of the bus less than a foot from my front
The crash barrier about six inches to my right

I stayed in control but I still don't know how
My wife was in tears mother in law white
I'll never know why we're still alive
Someone or something made sure we survived
This actually occurred on the M5 in Devon this morning while traveling home from my holiday

An idea*
Can never be silenced
An idea
Is a like a flower
Crush it
It may fall
Its petals blown away in the wind
But the pollen
it will gently land
And from that idea
Many more will grow
An idea
Can never be crushed
It only makes it grow harder
Where ever the wind blows

If you had an hour to live..
Would you spend that hour saying that an hour isn't enough.
Makes you think.. What would you do?
