Life is like a rollercoaster
You're in for one heck of a ride
At times you can get nervous
Butterflies inside

Fear can strike your very core
As you observe its height
But as you see it more and more
Anticipation rides

Down and up
Up and down
The worst parts followed by the best
And when you reach the highest top
Your fear is put to rest

As the ride comes to a stop
You can look back and observe
That you accomplished a life so great
Every twist
Every turn
Every curve

So don't you worry about being alone
There are people in the seats by your side
Enjoy life, the rollercoaster
You're in for one heck of a ride
I wrote this poem in my highschool English class as a writing prompt for extended metaphors. Looking back, I realize how blessed I was to be under such a wonderful teacher who really encouraged me to start writing. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have rediscovered my love for writing. Thank you, Ms. Linny, if ever you stumble on this page. Your kind words and warm smiles leave an impact on people greater than you can ever imagine.

There's a big ol planet floating here with seven billion folks
And somewhere in this world, I know you sit
I try not to act serious, I'm always full of jokes
But I want to bathe your body in my spit

I want to taste your skin, and to feel your every inch
But all this distance stands between our ****
I know I'm always dreaming, so I don't need a pinch
I just need an ounce of better luck

Pins and needles fill me as I think about your touch
God, I want to ******* so **** much

I want my words to be beautiful.
Beautiful like yours.
I want to see ordinary things,
Find the magic in them,
And put the magic on a page, for everyone to understand.

I want to have a way with words.
I want every poem of mine
To become a masterpiece.
Just like yours.

I am not broken.

But you are.

You see the world through pain,
And pain makes the colors brighter.
It makes the value of feelings
Climb higher.

Sometimes I wonder
If I should be broken like you
If I want my words to resonate
Like yours.

Sometimes I wonder,
If it will be truly worth it
In the end.

I wonder what it will be like,
To cut myself up to pour out the beauty inside me.

Just like you.

I imagine that you
Raise the blade
Slice your feelings open
And write your masterpiece
In red.
Can only sad people write good poems? Can only broken people find inspiration in anything?

I have been led to my darkest of moments
By hallways lit with the brightest of lights
We are all on a ride, the ups and downs we take in stride. I would not wish my pain away, for it was in the pain that I knew I loved you with an intensity I wasn't aware I contained.
I'm going on a trip
It's a little ways away
Maybe $20 in gas
Will get me there today
To Fornax Chemica
The White Tiger of the West
Hubble's going to catch me
And maybe wish me best
Travelling 60 million light years
May take a little while
But the lovely constellation
Will surely bring a smile
I admit that
Sometimes
I dream of peace
A purple sky
With a bottle of wine
A hazy window
Covered in a maroon cloth
On one side
Raindrops audible
But out of sight
Wooden walls and calm fires
A walk down a creaky hall
To read
I retire

The galaxy is awake
Through the sounds of the thunder

And I'm alive
