Today is the day.

Today is the day to take a deep breath
And reflect on all that has come before
New air
New flow
New ways to go
And lots room to grow

I am responsible
For me, and my actions;
I do my part for things to go smoothly
Honestly, you don't even do a fraction.

I paved the way for this to work
You trailed, staggering behind me
Creating potholes wherever you could
And you make it known, just to be a bully

I make mistakes sometimes,
We all do
I'm not excusing my trivial wrongdoings
But neither are you.

I thought you were my friend
I can clearly see that we're not
That is why I do not owe you
Another millisecond of my thoughts

I don't owe you anything.
You are in debt to me.
But I'm not being petty, or rude, or mean.

Just leave me alone.
I want nothing to do with you.
Pull up your socks and move on,
As we all should. As I have done, and will continue to do.

You think you’re smarter than everyone else
But you’re not
Nice try though
It was a cute thought

You say anything I can do you can do better
Maybe that’s true right now
But I’ll show you
When I return better than ever

What I will take
And what I will show you
Is not to underestimate me,
You’ll get the clue

When I’ll be on top of my game
And working so hard
You’ll be dizzy thinking about
How I came this far

Watch me
Watch me
Watch me
You’ll see
I’m not doing this for you
I’m doing it for me

“Be careful” they said
But I didn’t listen
For I thought I knew
What was going to happen

“Be careful” they pleaded
Don’t live with your friends
Little did I know
What was to take place in the end

“Be careful” they advised
I didn’t care, I should have though
I was naive, but now I’m not
I want to run, I should have known

“Be careful” I whisper
I saw what came
I prepare myself
For the inevitable pain

“Be careful” I think
As I drift off to sleep
Don’t do this again
No regrets, but the lessons I keep

Can't catch a break
They say it all the time
What is this break they speak of
Where is yours, where is mine

It's easy to believe it gets easier
But then, it's not
This break that we dream of;
It's a wonderful thought

But then, it isn't.
For hope is a danger-
It drags us along
Whilst turning us to sadness and anger
To deal with our problems, it's just wrong-
Yet, what is life without hope?
A sad and angry existence
So as you can see, here we have a predicament:

Hopeful and hopeless
They are one and the same
Just another convoluted method of relieving some pain
