It was just a single word, that lasted all day and night
it spoke to my heart, made me cry with fright
an article of thought, longing for the ultimate surmise
it was just a single word...

I beseech-ed of you, that word, for the word to go away
you are the arteries throughout my being
don't you understand, the most cherished
whispered into my being, that word, that single word
please go away..

Four decades of loving you, then the word
that left your mouth, that exploded all around
that hurt the most, that single word, that you spoke
it was a single word...

Our inner most thoughts were all we had
seduced I was with your ways, I would have followed you
till I died...Then that word, that hurtful single word
you crammed in down my throat you held it over my head,
you are not my lover...

That single word....
