For The First Time
Today was the first time
I didn’t push him away
Or struggle to get out of his grip.
Today was the first time
I let myself run to
His wide open arms
And hugged him back
From my heart.
Today was the first time
That little girl felt her dad's love.
Today for the first time
That little girl felt safe
Enough to come out.
Today for the first time
That little girl is healing.
Today for the first time
Old wounds get closed.
Today for the first time
It doesn’t feel heavy
To carry my soul.
Today for the first time
I finally feel..at peace.
