My mother’s favorite color is green
But I never understood why
I don’t dislike it
But
I couldn’t see myself being attracted
In flights of fancy
Excitement
Now,
I understand

Green,
To me
Is the color of the plants,
leaves of trees
Grass
Buds
My mother’s favorite color

Representative
Of those things I take for granted
Those everyday things...

That are essential to me

It may not be the color that grabs my attention
But rather
Like a steady boat
Keeping me afloat
Basically
My stability
...
Not a want,
But
A
Need
