Here we are
It's late again
We talk too late
And lose the weekend
I pay the rent
You wash the dishes
This quiet life
Made of fulfilled wishes

What once was gone
May soon return
So that one day
We both can learn
How it feels to be broke
But that's all fine
When we heard God spoke
And had some wine

Night after night
Both soon lose their heads
So they take a break
And for once
Go to sleep instead
Till the sun rise and they wake

We enjoy ourselves
In good company
Yet somehow the nights
That we love
Don't seem as pretty
Like a food you loved
But started to hate
For you desired
To have more on your plate.

What now? they ask
Themselves and their past
What once was a dream
Now seems quite unclean
Then came an angel
Who told both to wait still
And recount their steps
On when they first met.
