Rancid rain washed over everything,
This storm brought us inescapable pain.
When I held the caged bird within my hands,
I held him close to my heart and retraced each of his plans.
I watched as the water blurred the window
The room forsaken with the curse of a devoid shadow.
He struggled against the empty walls,
But his cage captivated his every call.
He fought his fate with every last breath,
Until his lungs exhausted and nothing was left.
My heart shattered in pain,
I cried as if to make him stay.
So silently I embraced the blame,
Having forgotten life is more than just a measly game.
His soul had already flown away,
And I am left behind-
Alone in the rain.
