can you not
be the moon?
she
filters
her light
behind clouds
in the gloom

O, fickle moon!
can you not
be as
stars?
they wink
at me softly
flirt as
Venus and Mars

O, gentle stars!
can you
take me away?
i want not
to see
the boldness
of day

for i'm so very tired
the light
blinds my eyes
the sun in its boldness
rules the
crystalline
skies

the skies
in their weakness
are soon
overcome

go back to your
hiding place

O, brazen sun
