I have no concern for myself anymore
The only thing that keeps my heart beating
Is knowing that if it stopped
It would break yours

For a moment, I forgot.
And it felt good.

you didn’t leave because i couldn’t handle your heart.
but because you couldn’t handle mine.
you came into my life like no other.
but left like everyone else.

i do not believe in god
but i do believe in poetry
and for me
maybe poetry is prayer
and the universe
is an unwavering ear
in the shape of a god
