YOU'RE NOT SPECIAL

YOU ARE SELFISH AND
AND

AND YOU'RE STUPID

AND YOU'RE AN INGRATE

AND YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO WRITE POETRY

AND YOUR FEELINGS ARE NOT AS PROFOUND AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO THINK

AND
AND
AND

YOU DON'T DESERVE TO LIVE THIS WAY

YOU'RE WEAK

JUST

*******

DIE ALREADY

YOU DON'T DESERVE ANYTHING AT ALL*

--

he breaks down to his knees,

he thinks he should be crying but the tears will not come

he sits for a while, empty and trying to quiet down his mind

he lies down,

one phrase in his head a little louder then the rest of all the noises in the world

*"you
are
not
special"
I gathered the ladders
One after another I strung them together
Planted their base
Like a bed of wooden flowers
And set them up towards the heavens
Till the top pierced
The white billowy clouds
And when I got to the top
The clouds didn’t stop
They went on like
A white winter wasteland
But I never found the place
Where the human race
Settles after they die
Upon entering this world,
I emanated innocence that was profound;
By that and pure youth
I was wholly bound.

As I aged and discovered that
The world harbors many dark things,
I also learned that a person has only whatever
Light he decides to bring.

I am learning slowly,
But surely, over time,
That there is purity to be found
In this world of grief and crime.
