On the edge of the Milky Way, way, way out in space
There's this planet called Earth; we've all heard of this place
A place where all the inhabitants are a complete disgrace
They allow millions to starve, while a few stuff their face
And no matter the size of their knowledge base
They can never understand one another and begin to efface
With their swords, knives, guns, bullets and bombs all apace
They will soon go at one another in a nuclear arms embrace
They have the ability to end themselves in one last Coup de Grace
....and with disparaging tones, we call them, the human race
".... and we call ourselves the human race." - John F. Kennedy

I think about where I started
Weak
Insecure
Unmotivated
So lost that not even turn by turn directions could help me
Feeling like the end of the road was so far away
Like what was even the point
Why should I try or believe in anything
All I could do was rely on others to get me through

I think about where I am now
Strong
Confident
Motivated
Found my path that God made for me
Everything falling into place
All I have to do is keep fighting
I was knocked down over and over again only to come back swinging
And now I can say I have a purpose

I think about where I'm going
Only up
Only forward
Only on the right path
Taking what I've learned and what I'm going to learn to succeed
I just need to keep following my dreams
Keeping the right people close to me
I know the true definition of struggling
And the true definition of over coming

Dive deep
sub-merge

do i want to know
what i'm best at? what if i
already know it?
That would mean i'm good
for nothing. i just hope i
haven't found it yet.
I catch my breath
As I avoid your eye
I take your hand
I begin my lie

My words cut
Straight and true
In to my web,
You fall right through

I let go your hand
As you take my eye
I hold my breath
You believe my lie

My words fall out
Hesitant & fearful
In to my web,
You were not careful

I let go my breath
As I hold your eye
You stroke my hand
I regret my lie

My words weave
Like a spider
Avoid my web,
For I am a lier
