The war between the weak and strong
It rages on
Yes it rages on
Through the inky black of night
Through the shining blue of day
Each thinks one is the other
How little do you think of one another?
To believe that for past mistakes you must always pay
Pay in full
Once it is found that payment is needed
To think that past mistakes cancel your current strengths
When in truth your strengths are the product of mistakes
Why believe the world is black and white?
When repeatedly in your life it has been proven instead to be gray
Why think one is strong and another is weak
Based on the testing of a few thousand characteristics out of billions
Why think you are one or the other when in truth everyone is both

Don't touch
Sparkling silver
Don't hear
Twinkling bells
Don't see
Dark night
Don't taste
Freedom from don't

Smoke and mirrors
Unforgiving sneers
Steering you through the show
Go where they say to go

Finish the play
Smoke and mirrors
Bow deep down
Smile proud

Costume off
Makeup gone
Smoke and mirrors
Mask replaced

On your bed
Close your eyes
Forget who you really are
Smoke and mirrors

A rose
Seen from the outside
An over used expression of beauty

A violin
Seen from a distance
A symbol of money and sophistication

Champagne and wine
Seen from the other hand
Drinks that cost too much for a polite buzz

I do not care much for rose
Violins
Champagne or wine

I've spent my life on outlines

Sorrow shrunk
Into the untouched corners
Of my rapidly beating heart
I haven't got time to cry
Nor to be nervous
Only to focus

These tin soldiers
Sitting high upon a shelf
They don't bent
They don't break
Only melt into puddles because of searing hate
These little tiny soldiers
There's only so much they can take
Before they wilt and die
Relinquished of their duty of keeping solemn company
Company to children hiding in the closet
Under the high shelf

Remember  when I cried?
When people died?
You held me tight
So I could continue the fight
I offered to carry you too
But you were a soldier in your own right
Marched on and on
Straight into the light
