“There is no greater agony
than bearing an untold
story inside you.” Maya Angelou

It is always better
to wait.
To let the *** brew
for things to settle a little
and get happy.

For patience is a
caged bird when
the time is not ripe.

However, the fledgling
never knows
when it is ready.
When it is time to take
that leap of faith.

When it is time
there will always
be something
to nudge you gently
off the precipice so that
you may do what you were
meant to...
and fly.
Nothing wrong with waiting...just don't overthink it.

It Is What It Is
Tanisha Jackland Jun 2018
Good feeds the poor
It also shelters them
Good embraces difference
with inclusive arms
and does not deny people
their freedoms
nor kills them for
their right to protest injustice
Good does not laugh
at the expense of others
and very often laughs at itself
it protects the Earth
with everything in its power
and knows we are all part
of the Earth like the flowers
and the animals
Good is having a heart and
not afraid to use it
and if you don't care for Good
then maybe you are not so Good
and that is a bad thing...
We need more good. Less bad.

Dark Ain't Pretty
Tanisha Jackland Oct 2019
They say my black

as if my hair is
not the color of the
night that holds
the moon in

as if dark
doesn't heal
the wounds of an
oppressive Sun
as if my eyes

Who made you believe
In idleness
At the expense

At the cost of people with
Unfortunate skin

Who told you to
Reap from their sweat

It's a balancing act.
We are kidding ourselves
if we don't accept it
and respect it.

America’s shadow
is projected
all over the Globe
and its not healthy
it is a sick child
waiting to be freed

but we repressed it
For far too long that now it
Is running the world

But not without
Demonizing it first
For it is
our deeper selves
out of balance
and a hero to most

Means freedom
For us to gather
as a collective
to heal ourselves
and to remain true

There must be light
For those who seek the
warm wisdom of the dawn

And there must be dark
For those who seek
to rest and heal
from its cool
effervescent shade

the balance of the
world will be shown
with love and simple
kindness

It all depends on you

We were intelligent once.
Nothing was artificial about us.
The stars reigned over
our astrology.
we were content.
We read the sky. like

We listened to the soft

We obeyed our station in the world.
to the rhythm of everything.

What happened to us.

has to be shed.
