Go as far as you can...

...and then go a little further.
Even when you knees are knocking;
When your feet stain the earth-
Carry on.
It's not just about you anymore
It's the reason you're still moving
Even when the thought of another day is like
Acid in your veins.

It's that fleeting strike of lighting in your path.
That flash of something that just made you feel...
So alive.
In that moment of
Fear and wonder
You were more awake than you'd ever been in your life.
And you knew in that moment that you'd search everywhere
For that brief instant where
Beauty
Mingled with
Uncertainty. Reverence. Awe.

Never stop.
Keep that brilliant light within your reach.
Just within your grasp.
It's in every storm you'll chase.
It's waiting in the clouds of your daydreams,
Breathing in the stagnant thunderheads of the
Ending summer sky.

Memory does no justice
When time comes; fades the lines
A face so dear and dominant
Fades back into mind.

Falling through my fingers
Burned to ash and gone
Whirling into dark and grey
After much too long.

Gone and so with joyousness
Fleeting far away
I'd give the world to have them back
But pain to have them stay.

I cannot begin to grasp
All of what I've lost
I've let this slip away from me
At much too high a cost.

Rain

Within the rain, the silent song
The gentle beat, the soothing thrum,
I close my eyes to drift away
To find some peace, I cannot stay.
Sweetness and soft, through dreams I stray
In soft grey tones, the cloudy day.

If I was a mountain

That soared towards the sky,

With craggy snow caps

And stormy grey eyes-

Then you'd be the clouds

That swaddled my peak,

That silenced my thunder

When I tried to speak.

If I was the earth

The desert, in fact:

With arid dry soil

And mud, baked and cracked-

You'd be the rain

The downpour that soothed;

The balm to my bruises,

Relief to my wounds.

If I was the Moon

In the indigo night,

With stars as my blanket

And silver; my light-

Well you'd be the Sun

Just always behind

That lent me your glow

And caused me to shine.

When you see her cry
     you get a rag,
a gentle delicate cloth.
                                        Lovingly grasp her hand
                                               and dab its tip;
dry each tear as they come.
                                                                                          And ask each drop
                                                                                               why it'd leave
                                                                                          such beautiful eyes.

  If she wishes
to be in the sky,
  tell her to go.
                              Take the sun ransom,
                              and replace its shining
                                    with her own.
So you can see her every morning
                                                                                   and wish for her
                                                                                  return each night.

When you see her scars
  both visible and non-
    touch each gently.
                                             And remind her
                                       that each and every hurt
                                            she has survived,
                                                                                        has only made her
                                                                                   that much more unique;
                                                                                       that much stronger.

  Show her that she
  is a special person
and is worthy of love.
                                     That she deserves the love
                                            she fears to give...
                                            show her so that
                                                                                 one day after you're gone
                                                                                  she can find the strength
                                                                                    to go on without you.

    Tell her that while
she might not be a goddess
far above worldly desires,
                                          that she is amazing,
                                         for just being herself
                                    for being that beautiful girl
                                                                               who thinks herself damaged
                                                                                  when in truth she's just
                                                                                a different kind of beautiful.

   And finally, love her.
Like a boy loves a girl
Till she finally remembers
                                            that that's what she is:
not a scar, not a goddess,
not a star. But a girl.
                                                                                    That deserves to be loved.

Closer Still

~

Closer still

Long of evening’s moonlit skies
Far beneath its reaching light
Passion claims a lonely heart
As we melt this crimson night

Deeply found of seamless fold
Intertwined our pleasured play
Shadows move on distant shores
As our breath is swept away

Fingers trace along the line
Smooth as silk and spun of love
Moistened dreams in silhouette
Cast of sighing stars above

Tasting slow the sweetest joy
Layered close in rhythm’d time
Dance upon these parted lips
Fruits a’ flowing ~ tempting wine

Formed as one in whispered word
Closer still ~ desires plead
Drenched in heaven’s nectar’d fire
Tenderly to fill the need

Clinging tight as mountains move
Snow capped worries left behind
Deep within this endless realm
Eternally ~ to call you mine
