cold weather, a hot night you

haunted me, collapsed     one

hour after midnight.        sick.

tired i woke          remembered

you had gone a long          time

now.

later i sit and sew,         think of

all those things.

How long can
you go without the
need to take away
something from
an experience?

I wonder
how our great creator
built a vessel
strong enough
to contain my soul?

Each day my spirit fights
against my skin with violent
jolts as a young bird
seeking exit from a cage.

Unfettered psyche
free from me
bounces among clouds
rolls through deserts,
climbs volcanic ridges
migrates with birds in flight.

Curious instincts guide
my vital force inside and out
like honey bees
scour zinnias in full bloom.

Dare I release my spirit today?
Free spirit, soul,

Should the sky fall,
That is to say that you feel a crisis,
Just saying,
Grab a star and put it in your
Pocket, hold on to your continent
As it drifts,
Drain the ocean to the deserts
And gather unprecedented cactus flowers.

Should sky fall
Learn the world as it all falls by,
I mean it's just a thought,
Take the time to shed copper tears
And rain the wounds over
The heights that fall,
How much would be left of a splintered
Moon, planets whizzing by,
And yet here you are still
In your pity!

Gather the energy
Among the falling birds,
The comets with animals scurrying
About claiming new territory,
See! They make the best of their
Sorrow!

Lower your sorrows,
I tell you now,
The song of your sad poetry,
The rumors of the Earth's demise,
Calm your skies,
If it is night, look up out the window,
Count the hopeful stars,
And - I'm just saying-
If they are falling,
Catch them!
Then all your wishes and hopes
Are finally coming true!
Audacity of Hope.

Her eyes are a metaphor,
   a conceit, fantasy

No shakespearean sonnet
   even a lyric, will suffice
to describe the elegance she carries

Her smile, the greatest curve,
   all simile will be denied

Haikus and couplets
   even the long ones
   will not be enough

Her laughter is a song,
   a perfect harmony and melody

She is neither a hyperbole
   nor full of irony
   instead she is perfect rhyme

She is a walking poetry
   a personification of aesthetics

Almost an abstract
   unfathomable beauty
   out of the ordinary
So glad I'm able to write this one after a looonnngggg time.

There's a silent war going on
Going on
Going on
There's a silent war going on
Going on
Going on

What happened to the days of true scholars
Nia who acquired knowledge not just dollars
We keep regressing as time goes on
We gota do it better than those who are gone long
Ago
When times we're more difficult
Gota get back to the origins on how theories were born
F
k rules
Be the exception and keep on going
Growing to infinite possibilities
Study everything under the sun
Be one with the universe since it begun
We ain't gonna win the war be we still gotta
battle
Cause

There's a silent war going on
Going on
Going on
There's a silent war going on
Going on
Going on

We gota shake society like those who have come and gone
Make a everlasting impact
Before you're done
Fk following the rules and
Getting a job that's cool
And sit in a office just to be a tool
Go out there
Risk your life
Become incredible and **** the hype
We can't win this war that is true
But we can fight and break open the truth
Cause

There's a silent war going on
Going on
Going on
There's a silent war going on
Going on
Going on

Those considered outcast or wierd have it clear
They understand that what we are shown doesn't come near
Of the true potential we hold
We must be bold
To bypass all these corny measured goals
Be an individual
Don't conform
We are born to break past social reform
I wanna preach love and individualism
Not stay stuck on hate and be subliminal
Embrace your human spirit
And block out the political
Those policy setters
Carry an umbrella
While we stay roofless and go toothless
Cause

There's a silent war going on
Going on
Going on
There's a silent war going on
Going on
Going on

Go against the grain
Embrace your heart
F
k your mind
It's been molded by the naysayers
Who just want to increase their dimes
Be you
No one is you
Set out on a mission and do it soon
Don't stay stuck following polices set by bullies
I know people need the money to get by
But if you take that thought out of your mind
One by one
Human nature will return to it's true kind
And maybe we'll have a chance at winning this war
A lot of us battle
And that's a real goal
Cause

The silent war just begun
Just begun
Just begun
The silent war just begun
Just begun
Just begun....
