i am broken
there is a darkness within me that creeps across the underside of my eyelids with each blink

a gnawing fog that doesn't let me sleep

a rising flood that refuses to weep

a burning brand in your chest
A yearning to be free from the weight, even if just for a moment. Even if those moments are stolen in the darkness, shame-filled secrets that scorch your hands and your spirit.

Scars that clearly show a battle has been fought, but no one can be sure it has been won.

A tightening grip around your throat that you wish would just finish the job and put you out of your misery

A plea like Giles Corey for "more weight"

/this wicked unrest threatens to tear your soul in two

...but silently, lest anyone should hear./

the veins in your arms like
road maps to your heart,
i trace them with my eyes
from afar.
youve got an aura that people write songs about,
the way you shine and
the way i fade and fizzle out.
im the last thing youd remember
but youre the last thing id forget,
the way your eyes wander
and mine are dead-set.

A simile is like a metaphor.
A metaphor is a similie,
Except if it forgot "like" or "as"

A similie is like checkers,
The rules are simple, easy to follow.
A metaphor is chess,
Complex and intricate.

Think of a simile as the store brand
A metaphor is the name brand
Of anything.

Metaphors are tests for the mind,
They make you visualize
Bear Mountain.

Similies are like little suggestions,
They point you in the right direction,
The Mountain was big like a bear.

Both important,
Both fun!
