Took I the heavy sack of my sin
And dragged it into the sea
Of salvation--watched it drowning
To the bed of grace and mercy.

Somedays, the tide only laughs
at the sandbags we put up.
When the ocean of emotion
breaks with waves above our hearts,
we swim or drown.

The swell of current overrides
and riptides pull us down.
Move parallel to shore against the tide
till firmer ground is found.
Swim.

At one time
Every atom in your body
Belonged to a star
A beautiful burning
Ball of hydrogen in space
In the first grade
When they gave you
Those stickers that read
'You're a Star'
They weren't lying
So when I wish for a star
I'm really just wishing for you
And maybe
You'll be wishing
On that very same star
For me too.
stranded on telephone lines
holding on deeply to conversions.
but i'm falling down,

suspended in air
i'm clinging to words
light and untouched
as they surge from
home
to
home
Grind & Pivet
Leveled out playgrounds buried in the valley
Foaming mutts pursue for as many yards as their yard allows
Old campers, corrugated fibre-glass plates and upside down canoes
Piles of plywood piled in meticulous patterns
St. Aidan's Church
A beat up old Buick
Nostalgialand
The Palo Alta Vista stretches and yawns in the morning
The crack of joints
Black arches over the horizon, cumulus towering
The sun, ready to ****
Anoyone not ready
For rebirth
I don't seem myself lately.
I hear these crickets constantly
chirping in my head,
it sounds like interstellar-static,
a form of alien communication.

They grind their legs
in unison & play
just under the surface.
It seems,
whenever
I'm in a crowd,
no one else hears it,
does anybody,
do you?

brooke
the red plaid shirt
you gave me hung
around my drivers seat for
10 months and the collar
bleached pink from the sun
I finally took it off a while
back and the left sleeve
was still fastened so that
it didn't slide up and show
your tattoo, and this morning
I stared at the little red button
that held the corners together
and undid it as if it meant something

maybe it did.
