we are nothing but the wind
as it howls to the wolf
that's baffled by the sun
and every blessed bullet

Sweet serenity
Show me your grace
I want to be like you
To dance upon water
Move like the wind
Fierce and aggressive like fire
Sing as beautifully as a sunrise
Show me how to wield this power
Teach me and show me your ways
For I will not object any longer
Forgive me for my stubbornness
I can not control myself
Guide me Serenity
You will not be disappointed
One cold night, a black butterfly took to the stars
In search of itself through all the darkness.
She flew higher and faster than ever before.
But the air was cold and the wind harsh-
It bit through her wings, and she began to fall.
She exhaled a fluttering butterfly breath
As she watched everything she had worked for hit the ground.
Down in a dirt hole, she looked from her jagged wings
To the big beautiful moon, way up in the sky-
And wished she had a friend like that.
Alone in that cold pit of earth, she froze.
And no one cared.

you open your eyes and the next twenty-four hours
are building into a cluster of storm clouds above your head
and all day you are convinced tiny pellets of the coldest rain
are falling from the ceiling, the sky, from anywhere really
but the weather forecast proves you wrong
still, you know it is coming, looming in the distance
and you would sooner believe your heart as a mechanical machine
than deny the inevitable onslaught of the malevolent future.
the mirror is chanting of your insanity,
your eyes of your deterioration
and you aren’t blind, you know what they’re seeing
and you aren’t deaf, you hear what they’re saying
but you swear the world is melting all around you,
colors drooling and dissipating in a matter of seconds
and each inhale is a pinprick and with each exhale you are deflating
but nothing is noticeably different, not really, at least,
except today, all of your ghosts left their graves
and are standing on your doorstep, ringing the doorbell, incessantly,
and today, you are expected to spend quality time with them, face to face.
I don't like it
when the cold from the outside
my heart.

"I can't, I have a girlfriend. I'm sorry."
But I pushed him against the brick wall
and I kissed him,
and he kissed me back.

We got our ears pierced together
that warm southern Fall night,
in the city of Mardi Gras beads
and mistakes.

"Let's pretend we just got married."
And I agreed, for the free drinks,
of course.
But I wanted so much more.

We packed up the rental car and drove
three hours to freedom,
ready to hit Bourbon with no expectations,
only free spirits.

And he was not a mistake.

Anxiety pools at my feet in a youthful way
A grin left from right and a gift that’s a breath of
Compassion at its peak and a ******* smile at its right
Demanding its play in war
“I see everything.”
My shoulders are dripping in the deepest way possible.
