Towns become empty shells
Hollow shops where nothing sells
Everyone becomes trapped inside
Safer indoors where you can hide
Endless problems with job insecurity

Too many looking work in obscurity
Rich keep taking from the poor
Often they still come looking for more
Unemployed battle just to survive
Battled and down but still alive
Lodging in shelter with the rats
Even if politicians live like fat cats
Decay in a country that was proud

Today and tomorrow, the same black cloud
Innocent and guilty live together
Meeting in clusters lasting forever
Everywhere you turn the future is gone
Stranded like some long forgotten song

War
Men go to battle
But women wage the war
The pen be her greatest weapon
Mightier than the sword

A woman knows the way to win
For it is she who beds the king
That holds the kingdom in her hand
And carries a fatal sting

She does not favor bloodshed
For poison is much cleaner
Pity those who cross her
For soon they’ll be taken by the “fever”

Men go to battle
But women wage the war
If you were expecting a damsel
You won’t find what you’re looking for

When you see her cry
     you get a rag,
a gentle delicate cloth.
                                        Lovingly grasp her hand
                                               and dab its tip;
dry each tear as they come.
                                                                                          And ask each drop
                                                                                               why it'd leave
                                                                                          such beautiful eyes.

  If she wishes
to be in the sky,
  tell her to go.
                              Take the sun ransom,
                              and replace its shining
                                    with her own.
So you can see her every morning
                                                                                   and wish for her
                                                                                  return each night.

When you see her scars
  both visible and non-
    touch each gently.
                                             And remind her
                                       that each and every hurt
                                            she has survived,
                                                                                        has only made her
                                                                                   that much more unique;
                                                                                       that much stronger.

  Show her that she
  is a special person
and is worthy of love.
                                     That she deserves the love
                                            she fears to give...
                                            show her so that
                                                                                 one day after you're gone
                                                                                  she can find the strength
                                                                                    to go on without you.

    Tell her that while
she might not be a goddess
far above worldly desires,
                                          that she is amazing,
                                         for just being herself
                                    for being that beautiful girl
                                                                               who thinks herself damaged
                                                                                  when in truth she's just
                                                                                a different kind of beautiful.

   And finally, love her.
Like a boy loves a girl
Till she finally remembers
                                            that that's what she is:
not a scar, not a goddess,
not a star. But a girl.
                                                                                    That deserves to be loved.

Today was a good day.
I had one worry; it died.
My soul lost weight; my heart
Found its way back up
From the bottom of my belly.

That, and the sun
Shone all day.
We're not spoiled with that
Here in the semi-arctics.

I didn't go hungry for a
Split-second.
I laughed until I cried
Several times at work.

Every face I saw on the street
Had a feeling of friendliness
To it.

With days like these; who needs
Dreams?
I'll sleep like a fat, old cat tonight.
Content and unafraid
Of tomorrow.

I'm in love with a girl
That wants me dead
Her name is Ana
And she lives in my head
Tattoos in the skin
One for her, and one for me
Permanently yours

bloodstains are pretty
like flowers for people who are sad
or stars for people who are too in love
or little redheaded girls
who are too afraid
