Ladybug In Quatern
Bee Ethel Jun 2016
a ladybug in spacious blue
splattering specks of red and black
with miniature aerial stunts
that speckle through uncaring air

it takes a keen eye to notice
a ladybug in spacious blue
a tiny snippet of fancy
in the otherwise simple sky

whizzing past wonderfully so
no trail or perfect plan concerns
a ladybug in spacious blue
her patterns flying forward fast

unhindered by specks of debris
fitting an insect debonair
sweetly dressed for a world's party
a ladybug in spacious blue

dark and sifting strands
crisscross the path they follow

It Was
Bee Ethel Jun 2016
it was the candle-flame
burning the wax low in the night
showing the long shuffled way
down the lingering stone path
to the old sycamore tree
which nearly eclipsed
the roses
that had been so neatly planted

the palpable marble benches
stood waiting for all
who wished to contemplate
the night sky
and what it brought to mind

it was the candle-flame
burning the wax low in the night
that was set down on a bench

the casualty of contemplation
is losing the mystery of questions
she thought

perhaps
it might be better to sit watching
as the candle-flame slowly burned
the wax low in the night

Giraffe
Bee Ethel Jun 2016
long necked wanderer
traveling across the savanna
munching on the tallest trees
your colors are plain
though your patterns are unique

TURTLE WATCHING
Bee Ethel Jun 2016
soft shell turtle,
sandy smooth with detail, patterns cover and decorate you.
your subtle gaze,
is a comfortable impression,
it reflects a dull light...
barely there, but visible...
to a beachcomber's vigil who sees,
soft shell turtle crawling,
straining for a place out of shadow,
slowly moving forward,
to reach a sunlit resting place.

When Sleep Is Far
Bee Ethel Jun 2016
hot hot cold cold
drips through the old old sink
sleep calls
    I cannot answer the phone,
what crack and crevice creaks...
creating an insomniac's symphony,
pouring down hard-crazy-rain,
dashes against the window's cheek,
it strives to wake the dead,
as I crumble further into the sheets,
and feign a lifelike pose

Fur And Scales
Bee Ethel Jun 2016
deep in primal perceptions
soft mews interrupt
but the dragon barely moves
only raising an eyelid slightly
the creature is too insignificant
to make a decent meal
he continues
considering the power of flame
and all the cautionary uses thereof
then again,mew
mew mewl
a fuzzy face looks up
to the scaly toothy maw
that yawns long
and lets out a deep breath
the kitten makes a face
and sneezes
the bemused beast chortles
stretching claws
to pick it up high
the kitten has no fear
responding with an indignant
      MEW!
the aged dragon considers
and places it by his sinewy tail
wrapping around the soft fur
then finishing considerations
he falls asleep to a subtle purr

Butterfly Ride
Bee Ethel Jun 2016
one day walking,
i stopped and stooped,
it looked almost fake,
a bare touch,
my shoe then suddenly,
say forth,
venturing without words,
so much of black, yellow and blue,
riding the wind where words have gone,
flying forth and far above,

what places have you been,
how did you find yourself here?

landing on your chosen destination,
a drab and grey building,
you are safe from other shoes,
and still amazingly vibrant

The Idea Of This
Bee Ethel Nov 2016
The curve of a smile
from a friendly stranger
After chuckling
At a Joe Pesci impersonation
That probably wasn't even good.
Thoughtful calculating looks
Of agreed and understandable.
Black shades and red hair
mixed with such
I've never been here before vibes
for one not unfamiliar with cities.
Softly excited at ships to explore
The idea of being anyone more

Surpassing
Bee Ethel Sep 2016
Flashes of images
Lasting paintings
Things made of clay are
Built up outside a door
Dulled cement leads to
the theater oldishly standing
Decorated with neon lights
Carpet shows the path forward
Outside the theater...
Shooting stars pass over head
Showing the perspective
of a bright trajectory
Perhaps
others saw these
perhaps
they once knew
the findings of past ancients
and things made of clay

Pleasantries Are
Bee Ethel May 2017
Crafted cleverness
full of capriciousness

a song to sing
of solemn sailing ships

a smile
a laugh
at little expense

thoughts of many
thoughts of few
and more filling food

and that

which helps
me sleep

at night.
(Sorry I haven't been about, I may do more another time)

A Life Of Variants
Bee Ethel Jun 2016
a glass sits on her head
remaining stalwart
standing tall despite gravity
and table decor of cracked crystal
and a slender green bottle

worn rosewood table
holds up a slender green bottle
and it's companion
a stalwart piece of cracked crystal
a glass sits on his head
as he considers gravity
and it's place at the table
