A raindrop plops onto your lashes
and you blink it away,
it slides down your face
like the tears you should be shedding.
The sky is crying for you,
you have no tears of your own.
Why do I keep writing poems about rain?

*I watched her
skipping stones,
creating ripples
gently caressing
the distant shoreline
of my heart
~
As they washed
over me in
glistening
poetic motions,
I felt something
touch me deeply
~
It was love
in tiny waves,
circular patterns
reaching out then
melting away upon
the warm sand
~
And in that
moment I knew
that even though
the ripples may
disappear in my heart,
she never would

As I watched the fire
burned my cigarette
I put the darkness
of the smoke
inside my lungs

then I thought of you...

you watched my desire
you shared your secrets
I saw your sadness
we shared lame jokes
I was happily stunned

now...

You are tired
You wanted to keep it
And now I'm hopeless
because last time we spoke
I thought that wasn't the last

now I need to light another cigarette.

i know you never loved me
because when i had a problem
instead of helping me
you would shun me
as if your friends would find out
and judge you for dating me
or because you thought i was crazy
and maybe i was
but you were crazy too!!
we dealt with the same things
and i understood,
and all i wanted was for you
to acknowledge our imperfections
and help me make them better
not cast me aside..
i just wanted your help..
why does this still bother me??

I just wanted to be your last
everything happens for a reason.
Cheese?
Oh, please!
I know that trick.

I know cheese and
I know peanut butter
and chocolate and biscuits.

I even know oatmeal porridge.

Still,
sniff  sniff
I'm hungry.
She had starfish in her eyes
And she was eager and impatient
When daydreaming
About being
And falling
In love
And she gave herself
Freely and easily
And found tears
And heartache
More often than not
But she never did break
And you can always find her
At the end of the ocean
Gazing and dreaming
Through her starfish eyes
