If you would Immortal be,
It isn’t any mystery.
You only have to find and be
The “true love” of one cursed to see
Through Poetry.

Love comes! The rhyming words will start
Your  “face is carved into her heart"!
And then come rhythms quick and smart,
Enjoy your lover’s fine honed art…
Ah, Poetry!

Wait! See now, love has run it’s course
It’s time to stop and stay: divorce.
As pain and sadness, dark remorse
Fill up the soul they feed the source
Of Poetry.

Your Name and Deeds Immortalized!
You cannot really be surprised-
As love’s lost, watch poems crystallize
Right before your aching eyes,
You're Poetry.
6/2014 Thanks to the Inspiration of the fine poets here!
I spent last night a' wandering
I roamed across the earth
Through meadows green
and cities gray
To try and find my worth

I asked the twinkling starlight,
beseeched the roaring sea
I begged the rugged mountainside
for any sign of me

I ran through threatening shadows
and basked in brightest sun
yet my heart remained elusive
and my soul remained undone

Then when the dawn awoke me
with it's dazzling newborn hue,
I found my worth within your heart
and wrote these words for you.
Her voice is like clear water
That drips upon a stone
In forests far and silent
Where Quiet plays alone.

Her thoughts are like the lotus
Abloom by sacred streams
Beneath the temple arches
Where Quiet sits and dreams.

Her kisses are the roses
That glow while dusk is deep
In Persian garden closes
Where Quiet falls asleep.

Standing before the microphone
Blank faces stare from cushioned chairs
Jewels sparkle, acting like they’re real
While bow ties just seem sad…it happens

Marching to the beat of clicking heels
Unbuttoned vests as strange eclipsed spotlights
Illumine smoke swirls in overhead rafters
Flowing from my ember’d fingertips

And my hair is a mess…but it always is
And I don’t care…do you?
I’d clear my throat but that does no good
Gravel has taken up residence…it pays the rent

The room goes dim, the audience worries
Glares spark like steel on asphalt
I can see them clear, slowly fading in anxious doubt
Scratching on some ink pad and dusty sheets…ideas

Yet I love you, I love everything that is you
Need surpasses desire, and I need
My arms long to cling you, crushed against me
Breathing as one, harmonious breath…thoughts…they come

The bass player plucks and that is my cue
Flicking my ashes I begin to read…poetry
And the audience smiles…I am a poet and poetry is cool
Leonard Cohen was right
Do you see her in your dreams?
I hope so.
Oh what a tangled web we weave....
I hope it hurts.

Haters gotta hate
Writers gotta write
Poets gotta wax and wane
about a moonlit night.
Singers gotta sing
Lovers gotta sigh
Me, I gotta go to work
See ya later folks, goodbye!
A quickie on a dull commute, written to the rhythm of the second hand rap I hear coming from the headphones of the dude sat next to me.
